AC:US is a pretty game, but given the benchmark that is Red Dead Redemption for American frontier hunting etc, it really just fumbles along. AC and ACII were the best for me due to character devleopment and especially AC's setting/time period. I just don't feel like I'm playing AC here in the good 'ol US of A. If this game had been promoted as per it's setting, i.e. the American Revolution alone without a medievel lineage, then it would be great. But it should be AC and isn't. American flags. killing only Red Coats and not Americans, and overwhelming American historical events overshaddow the premise of Templar v Assassin. Then there are ufos, ghost and big foot (covered in Red Dead) to further annoy me. Fortuantely for me it will be over soon and I can go back to AC, turn off the sound when Altair speaks in his American accent, and enjoy a third round of medieval assassinations.

Connor kill Americans instead of Brits. It has been a noted absence by gaming reviewers. Also needs more brutality towards African-Americans because that's what Americans did to the poor buggers (and the 'Indians'). Haven't seen any slave plantations as yet or public whippings, beatings, lynchings or just good old verbal abuse etc. This is the late 1700s isn't it?

Wish Rock Star had this game. Would have been much more historicall realistic and enjoyable. They don't mind pushing boundaries.

I personally didn't have an issue with the lock but have encountered the odd bug here and there in the game. I can only suggest downloading the latest patches (one released the other day) and exit the game and try again. If your fingers slip even slightly off the two picks then cracking the door won't happen. I'm sure you know this so I apologise if I sound patronising!

Assassins Creed had the best setting in the Crusader period because that is when the assassins came to European attention. Fighting actual Templars in Acre etc was brilliant, but the gameplay was limited and voice acting terrible. It was a first time, rushed product.

After that it was going down hill. And please, American posters, we know you love your country but the setting is pointless American patriotic propaganda. Abstergo was taking over the world, so why was it set in America? Because ALL heroic actions take place in America! Oh, god. America saves the world again!!! Didn't you get Team America and what it was saying??!! America doesn't control the world; never has, never will. Aliens in the Americas is also overdone in various TV shows, movies and games. Boring!!!

AC should have stayed in the Middle Ages given the events across Europe and the Middle East during any of the multiple Crusades, providing innovative settings and story lines, not cliched Americanisms.

The big disappointment I had (have) with AC:USA is the setting. Too patriotic to American ideals. Firstly, you, the assassin, are stopping Abstergo taking over the world. So why am I only in the USA? The USA doesn't control the world. Never has, never will. What about Asia, Africa, Europe (beyond past games)? Shouldn't I be multiple assassins in multiple places?

Beyond that, and too many other rants I have posted across various sites in the past 12 months, is the mistake I made in firstly playing 1). Assassins Creed with its awesome setting of the Crusades, and 2). Red Dead Redemption, the absolute best game I have played due to character development and game play. Imagine is Rockstar had AC?!! Coming to AC:USA on the back of those games was only going to lead to disappointment.

No, I will rant. UFOs, ghosts and bigfoot; easy controls; animals that don't attack when on horseback; lovely Native character one minute, angry the next but never against the American occupiers?? Come on. Seriously!! Red Dead got it right with their take on the wild west and the zombie pack. Pure enjoyment!

I stuck with AC because I am loyal to brands and wanted to play the game out. I never expected anything beyond American patriotic cliches and got them. All the best to America; you have a great history and heritage but it is overdone in gaming...another reason AC original was so great with its time period setting (Abstergo was never in America at that stage either). The game should have stayed as Templar v Assassin with the main character passing though the events around him/her like previous games without getting involved in making the USA.
