Amazon's new Kindle Fire is intriguing. At $199 I might rethink my stand on tablets, especially since I've been planning on bying a Kindle for a long time now.

I don't see myself ever buying another desktop computer. In my opinion they are for the office and nothing more; not terribly practical for everyday life. I use a Windows PC every day and work and I can still confidently say that I do prefer the simplicity and reliability of my Mac. I don't hate Windows, but my work comp messes up a lot more than my personal Macbook, so I don't see myself going back anytime soon.
And b/c I'm a laptop guy, tablets don't make sense to me either. I can't understand why someone would want a smartphone, tabelt, and laptop. For me, the iPhone and laptop combination is more than sufficient. But if I had to have a desktop--for work, for example--then I could see myself skipping the notebook and just buying a tablet to travel with. As of now I'm almost 100% certain that I'll never own a tablet or another desktop.

I recently started a new job working for a big investment bank as an editor. Last week a report came through about Ubisoft's financial forecast :P Looks like they're doing pretty well for themselves!
I thought about buying a PS3 but it's just too expensive down here. The PS3 def has a few exclusives that I'd like to play but I won't buy one until I get abck to the States, maybe in a year or 2.
As for Elder Scrolls, I arrived late to the party. Oblivion was the first one that I played but as I mentioned, I played over 120 hours! I'm expecting to put in at least that with Skyrim. Oblivion is definitely one of my top 5 games of all time so you can imagine how excited I am for Skyrim! And while I'll be buying a new laptop soon as well, I don't really like PC gaming for 3 reasons: 1)the cost of mainting a current gaming rig; 2)the screen size being too small; 3)I'm a mac user and most games don't come to mac. I only like to play my old school emulators on my computer.
Most of you guys know that I've been living and working in Chile for about a year and a half now, with nothing more than my DSL, which rarely gets used. In the interest of full disclosure, I also have a TON of emulators from NES, SNES, GEN, and GBA, which I play a lot, but I miss my 360. I recently took a new job and committed to stay here for at least another year, which is why my mom is gonna send me my XBox and all my games! It's gonna be expensive--maybe $150--but well worth it. I thought about just buying a new one, but electronics are too expensive down here.
So the point is that I will be enjoying my 360 and my entire game library in less than a month! To be honest, the biggest reason I wanted it was for Skyrim. Don't call or visit in November...I have a date with Elder Scrolls!!! :) :) :) :8
Oh yeah baby, that's what I love to hear :Dlebanese_boy
Interesting. The problem is that the new 3DS, I'm sure, would be back to the $250 price tag, which I can't see gamers choosing over the Vita (myself included)
I live in Chile, which is the same region. I'm not worried about it anyway b/c it's cheaper to buy new games in the States and just have them shipped down here. Electronics in general are about twice as expensive in Chile. So what are you doing down in South America, just out of curiosity? I originally came down here to learn Spanish and travel. I started out teaching English, but once I decided that I wanted to stay I got a "real" job. I work for a big financial editing firm down here in a city called ViƱa del Mar. If anyone's ever thinking about traveling to SA during the summer months (Dec, Jan, Feb) this might be the best place. It's like the San Diego of South America.[QUOTE="murlow12"][QUOTE="Oleg_Huzwog"]
Which country? Any region lock concerns?

That's a good point that I hadn't thought about. So I guess I have to buy one of those, too :(Whoa!
If you plug that Xbox into the Chilean power supply without a transformer, the console will be toast!
:o
Refer to this handy table detailing the attributes of various countries' power supplies.
You'll notice that Chile delivers electricity at 220V, whereas the US uses only 120V.
