You see all those "screenshots" Gamespot has put there with this article? None of them is actually from the retail game. They're all publicity shots of things that don't exist. It's the same with every article about No Man's Sky on the entire Gamespot website. Every image that has been used is something Hello Games have published themselves to make their game look better than it really is. What on earth is going on! Let's start using some real in-game shots, shall we?

Yeah but let this NMS debacle be a lesson about game "presentations"...

NMS is the to the gaming media what the Iraq war was to the American news media. They have totally let down the people they claim to serve by simply reporting press releases as news. There are people playing NMS right now like there were watching the invasion of Iraq, thinking its great because they have invested so much money in it and because the gaming media didn't do their job. You're supposed to be journalists... and you are supposed to ask questions and demand answers... you are supposed to know the difference between bullshit and facts because you are experts! A year from now, all the people saying this is a good game will be eating their words and the backlash from this will live on far beyond the lifecycle of NMS. You have hammered one of the last nails in the coffin of sites like Gamespot. Youtube is where we can get objective reviews.

The growing consensus is that the reviewer here and on other gaming sites bought into the hype and got it wrong. This is a 4/10 game... there are still people in denial about that. I think Hello Games have a lot to answer for in terms of peoples' mental health. You get American Evangelicals going on about violent games... this is far more damaging. I bet there are still people out there who think that if they keep playing they'll run into another player. They're looking for depth and meaning where there is none. We all paid $60 for a tech demo... wake up and snap out of it. Stop playing... it's shit.

$20 for the game and $40 for the hype... I'd have been happy with the non-hyped game.

Omg... the lying so and so. I was somewhat content to think that although I paid a lot of money for this game, at least there might be free extra content down the line that might make it worth the AAA price tag. Yhat's what they promised. Now it's clear it won't be free. Just more hype and deception from these guys. I can assure you I won't be spending another penny on NMS.

After feeling very let down by this game, I have come to realise that there is fun to be had here. But the AAA price tag is too much for what is on offer here. I paid more for this than I paid for Fallout 4, and that is simply ridiculous. If it had been in the $25 to $35 price range I would have been quite content with its shortcomings... and there are many.

When you buy this game from the PS Store you will watch a video of huge bronotosaurus-like creatures with camera angles that you'll never see in the actual game.

It's not such a bad game after all... but the price and the deceptive marketing have made it less enjoyable than it would otherwise be.

I thought the enemies running towards you looked pretty lame. Not very realistic AI for that situation.

The mods that came out for Oblivion and Fallout are just mind-blowing. One can't help think that this was Bethesda's idea all along... we create the world (awesome, but rather flawed) and then we give you the tools to do almost anything you can imagine with it. If you're playing it on a console you're having a nice time but completely missing the point. The mods that come out for Skyrim will reset the bar a tad higher no doubt.

I don't care how many games they make, I just want the ones I buy to be good.
