Most of the lies were told in interviews... so I guess the ASA wouldn't take that into account. However... there's still the E3 video. It seems the expression "procedurally generated" is a get of jail free card. Developers take note.
I'm impressed that they have done some work on it, although there is nothing here that would tempt me to load the game up again just yet.
What's the point of playing it now when in 6 months it will hopefully be a much better game?
For me they need to concentrate on physics, improving ship handling and variation, and combat. Base building doesn't interest me. It seems rather pointless.
@grizt00f: I didn't pre-order I bought it the day after it was released. And everyone who has played NMS agrees that the first 5 hours you spend fixing your ship and heading off into the unknown are great. It feels like the beginning of something fantastic. But it's not. After 5 hours you have seen and done everything there is to do in NMS. But it takes you quite a few hours more to realize it. And suddenly you understand that nothing is going to happen. That's why it's such a rip off and a disappointment. The initial reviews were all very positive... now a couple of months later they are are all very negative. I can't remember another game like that.
Base building? In a game where the point is to keep moving from planet to planet, solar system to solar system in search of the the center of the galaxy? What is the point of building a base that a) you will have difficulty finding again whilst still on the same planet for lack of an in-game map and b) you won't be able to return to once you leave the solar system you build it in, and c) is contrary to the entire point of the game which is to keep moving?
Base building is not what players want. Base building was never mentioned prior to the game being released. What people want is for the game to look and behave the way it was advertised in the promotional material.
@wtf_666: oh you'll get your sluts. You can't get a game with a metacritic critics score of seven and a user score of three without there being some sluts.
@cpl11787: You call that a "glitch"... ok how about you post some of your lush verdant world side by side with the E3 trailer and let us all see what amazing game you are playing and we're all missing out on... because my game for the 20 or so hours I stuck with it was exactly like the "glitch".
I remember a long time ago playing the game Wild Arms on the Playstation 1... I played it for about 4 hours and suddenly credits started rolling across the screen. For a moment, my heart sank. But it wasn't the end... it was the beginning. The four hours I had played were just scratching the surface and the game proper hadn't even begun. I was blown away.
No Man's Sky is the exact opposite of that game. The first 20 minutes is the most excitement you will have in NMS... and 4 hours in you will have seen and done everything there is to do. Don't look for hidden depth... there is none. Don't expect that it will get better. It won't. Don't concern yourself about getting a bad-ass ship... there's no such thing. The only difference between ships is the number of slots they have. More slots to fill up with pointless crap.
