But I don't totally buy that. I don't recall Little John Connor doing anything disturbingly racist to the black guy. He was just an ass to them. Might have tried to fight them once or twice, I don't remember. But the little guy was actually light on the racism. That's sort of the point.
Remember how his skinhead buddies asked him how he felt ablout blacks, and he says "I don't know, I guess some of them are okay once you get to know them."
Then the older hardcore skinhead is likje, "**** THAT! We don't want to get to know them, they're the enemy!"
Thing about little brother is that he got into the whole white power movement because he admired his brother. He never was really all that passionate about it, he was just trying to do what he thought his brother would approve of. They had no dad, his brother was the closest thing he hadto a father figure, so he just tried to follow in his brother's footsteps. But he had never really gotten to the point where he was as hateful as his brother was.
Also, don't make excuses for the black guy. Little John Connor didn't make him do a damn thing. Did you miss the hints that indicated that the black guy who shot him was sort of his own mirror image? Just as Little John Connor became a racist because of growing up in a culture of violence and hatred, the black guy who killed him was NOT mainly motivated to do so because of the little brother's actions. Instead, there are strong hints that the black guy was just another dumb impressionable youngster who was mostly motivated by the culture in which he was raised. The little brother's racism didn't CAUSE his own death, it's just the person who killed him happened to be part of an equally destructive culture of violence and hatred. The guy who killed him probably had a LOT in common with him, he just took it a step farther, and didn't have anyone to convince him to stop before he went that far.
But this movie is NOT just about neo-nazis or white supremacists, and the black kid shows this. This kind of stuff goes beyond boundaries of white or black. It's more about the mentality that goes into a culture of hatred. They just portray it from the vantage point of a white supremacist kid. Probably would have worked equally as well if they'd portrayed it from the vantage point of the black gangbanger kid, since he seems to be the little white brother's doppelganger.
