guarddog, darn straight. I love my ps3, my Xbox, my vita, my 3ds, my pc... They all do different things well. though obviously, my wallet does NOT love my lack of loyalty, it makes me a happy guy.

My memory may be a bit hazy, but hasn't every console generation thus far smoked even high-end pc's at launch? And haven't they also done so with like 1/4 the horsepower on paper? I'm 33, and every generation's specs have looked like garbage on paper until you actually plugged them in on launch day, at which point you're blown away by how much a console can do with seemingly so little. Why is this generation expected to be different? Here's hoping it's not!

And for the record, pc snobs, I've got a SMOKIN' dual Nvidia 580m rig, I just like to see consoles do well, too. Real gamers play wherever the fun is.

Wow, what a contrast from Ign's "Nintendo Strikes Back" front page article, which takes the complete opposite approach to the same announcements. As usual, IGN is the fanboy, Gamespot is the cynic. The truth is somewhere in-between.

Me wonders how much extra horsepower this is going to need from your gpu... Expanding your fov by 5000% in every direction sure seems like it'd be a system hog, although it's drawing at greatly reduced quality. Very intrigued, much potential here.

I sure hope the crappy framerate is from the feed and not the actual game... I realize it's a 30 fps feed, but often the smoothness of a 60fps game comes through on a slower feed somehow. Fighters are the last bastion of decent frame rates on console, sure hope this doesn't look to change that...

If used games are blocked, and by extension rentals made a thing of the past, the next generation of consoles will fail. Period. End of story.

There's a reason why retail pc gaming never took off to anywhere near the levels of its console brethren, despite the pc's presence in American homes at a higher rate than all the major consoles combined. And it's not just lack of a dedicated controller and varying pc specs. It's because with consoles, we could trade games at school with our friends, we could rent them to see if they were good, and because we could buy them used. Being able to try out console games, and get them at a reasonable price, is a huge part of the console's success.

I LOVE games. But, save a VERY small select few, they are not worth $60. Never have been. Putting a block on used games won't make people suddenly feel that they're worth $60. I've bought every major console since SNES/Genesis, and if this used game block goes through, this will, without a small shred of a doubt, be the first generation I skip.

Before anyone gets too excited about the graphics... the following link confirms that the E3 footage was all from a high-end pc: http://www.lazygamer.net/xbox-360/e3-2012-star-wars-1313gears-of-star/

I was pretty amazed when I actually thought this was running on a console :-p

Uhhh... Did I really just read a whole article on why SFxT didn't sell that didn't mention the dlc debacle?? It's one thing to take the high road because the topic's been beaten to death... It's another to write an article about why SFxT sold poorly and pretend the dlc thing didn't happen. All of the topics Maxwell listed are decent contributing factors to SFxT's poor sales, but I would put money that the dlc debacle trumps them all. I honestly think this game would have easily sold double the copies if not for the dlc fiasco - bugs or no. There is little doubt that it was THE major factor affecting the game's sales.

Funny thing is, if Capcom had just included those 12 characters for free instead of nickel and diming everyone to death, this game probably could have easily broken 4 or 5 million sales.

Not to mention that digital games actually have LONGER load times than their cartridge counterparts (google it). MIght not have dropped $100 for my paltry 32gb card if I knew that upfront...

I'm quite pleasantly surprised that Gamespot published this. It's good to see the gaming media acknowledge when the big boys do something wrong. My experience with the FIFA scam was really frustrating, and it didn't make it feel better to have Microsoft tell us all it must somehow be our fault. I'm 32 years old and I've never had my security compromised in ANY other way my entire life. I've always made fun of people who had their facebook or Myspace hacked, people who obviously clicked the wrong thing at the wrong time and didn't see the warning signs. I'm sure many people have the same story - that the FIFA scam is the only time they've ever been scammed. To Microsoft's credit, however, I did get my money back, after a month. I also got my lost xbox live time back and then some. But they really shouldn't have had to shut down anybody's account for 24 days - especially after the issue was well known and it had already happened to 10's or 100's of thousands of people.
