@painpas Exactly. COD is a last gen engine and overall looks like shit compared to, say, Killzone SF. Yet, the Bone has trouble running it at 1080p/60fps. The Bone is already showing that its going to have trouble keeping up with the PS4 at the very start of this gen...and its only going to get worse as the 3D engines devs use increase in complexity. The reality is neither console is overwhelmingly powerful compared to mid-high end PCs...but the PS4 definitely has more legs and as gaming progresses over the next 3-5 yrs the PS4 versions of games will look much closer to the PC version than the Xbone version. This is quite simply a fact and no amount of SDK/API developer wizardry will be able to overcome the Bone's ~50% lower shader/memory bandwidth performance.

@I_can_haz The media has a vested interest in minimizing real world differences in order to make this seem like more of an actual horse race than it actually is. This is a similar tactic to what the mainstream media did in the 2008/2012 Presidential elections when one side was clearly going to trounce the other, but the media wanted people to tune in. This sort of false equivalency creates drama, debate, and ratings...and in the gaming world it makes people click on links to read articles and sells magazines.

The reality is the PS4 kicks the shit out of the Xbox One in terms of raw shader performance/memory bandwidth. A good 1:1 comparison in PC gaming terms would be: PS4 = HF7850. Xbone = HD7770. Look at benchmarks comparing those two GPUs and anyone with a brain can see the PS4 is going to beat the Bone like a red-headed step-child as this gen progresses.

@UNCStriker88 Link for proof, please? There is ZERO logical reason why this would be so. The PS4 and Xbone use the EXACT SAME architecture and both video sub-systems are produced by AMD (ATI GPUs).

The real differences between these consoles are in terms of pixel/texel power/shader performance/memory bandwidth...areas in which the PS4 has a clear, significant advantage.

@UNCStriker88 lol Microsoft shills are getting desperate. I hope they are getting paid to post lies like this. The PS4 runs cooler than the Xbone. Fact. It's called *PHYSICS*. Lots of negative (i.e., open) space makes things harder to cool, not easier. If anything the PS4 will cool better assuming it has a correctly laid out front/back fan system.

@iBuSHiDo News coming out about MS trying to screw gamers and having a more expensive, significantly less powerful console makes you want to buy the Xbone MORE? lol Mmmm-kay then....

@LordMonkeybum I've played with both next-gen systems and controllers. Have you?

I absolutely hated the PS3/DS3 controller...and I believe the 360 controller is the closest thing to perfection we have seen in controllers. For my hands it IS absolutely perfect (except the bad D-pad).

Now, with that said: the new DS4 is a *huge* improvement and I would say it is nearly as good as the 360 controller for me - and many people are saying it is better.

In contrast, the Xbox One controller is smaller than the 360 controller, the sticks are looser, and the bumpers only work at the tips (you can't click them towards the center of the controller). On balance, the One controller is getting a fair amount of negative press about it being a slight *step backwards* for MS.

Likewise, most people I've talked to who are currently Xbox 360 gamers agree the DS4 is slightly better than the Xbox One controller. So, it would seem that you don't know what you're talking about.

@sknight175216 False straw man argument. All evidence points to the fact that the PS4 will run most games at 900p/1080p AND 60fps while the Xbone is going to have to down-rez to 720p to get 60fps and may end up being 720p/30fps in games with higher end textures. COD uses an old engine and doesn't look very good, barely "next gen" at all. If the Xbone is having trouble already then this isn't a good sign. In computer terms: the PS4 is roughly equivalent to a HD7850 and the Xbone is roughly equivalent to a HD7770. If you check out the benchmarks there are HUGE frame-rate differences between games using those 2 cards. One example: Skyrim on the 7850 achieves about 75-80fps at 1080p while it can only achieve 30-35 fps on the 7770. This is quite simply a fact. The laws of physics tend to be problematic for Xbone fans. ;)

@dbene We're not even close to the graphical ceiling. We are at least 2 console generations (7-10 yrs) away from truly photo-realistic rendering in game. Until then, we're not at a graphical ceiling and even then we'll still see incremental improvements. In short, you have no idea what you're talking about.
