Pff, I use walkthroughs all the time if something takes me too long to find out. And they can indeed be very silly things, like not finding a particular object that's right under your nose. I'm not going to ruin my gaming experience by getting frustrated about silly details like that. With puzzle games it's a little bit different, but especially with those older point 'n click adventures if I've tried it for hours, then put it aside, come back and still can't figure it out, I'll just look it up. Once I get to a point that I realise the satisfaction from doing it yourself will not outweigh the frustration that preceded it, I'll use a walkthrough.
I know people get all romantic about how hard videogames used to be, but I never play videogames solely for the (skill) effort, so I will only continue doing difficult stuff as long as it's somehow still satisfying. I'm very patient and do have a bit of pride, so I sometimes get stuck for quite a while, but I'm not stubbornly persistent.
