I liked it and I still like ME1 moreso than ME2. It definately feels like 2 with a huge heaping of 1 to make a good mix which I approve of. I do like that Bioware is trying to make it even more personal for Shepard with the kid and the destruction at home. It felt a little heavyhanded but I buy it. I think the second mission was faaaaar superior than the first and felt more like Mass Effect but with even more focus on combat. I hope that more missions aren't only based on combat only though. The graphics are a mixed bag, the first mission they looked extremely bad though for the second mission it looked better. Maybe it was the low res textures on non armored clothing? Either way I hope it looks better for release.

Best, PC only? if so then Bad Company 2,and CoD 4 come to mind. Also Halo 1, Timesplitters 2 and Goldeneye if we say console games as well.

Naugty Dog

Epic Studios

Retro Studios

Bioware

Blizzard

Valve

Also Rocksteady

I know it's 6-7 but it's really hard to narrow it down to so few when in truth the industry is pretty rocking right now.

After reading it does sound like some legit concerns but the same can be said of 3DS to a degree. Apparently we can't have a handheld and a smartphone at the same time though.....

Console games are aimed at very casual gamers, they dont want challenge or a game that lasts to long, just a quick easy fix.

tenaka2

Well that's just wrong and conceded. If that were true then what about Mass Effect, Zelda, Gran Turismo, Resident Evil, Banyetta, God of War, Beyond Good and Evil, Prince of Persia, Mario Galaxy, or Metroid Prime??? Are you saying that these series and games are casual and quick easy fixes???

Consoles don't hold back visuals as much as they hold back game design.

Amazing graphics to the photorealistics levels that PC gamers want will never happen because the amount of time it would take to create the art and the assets would be enormous.

Instead we see a lot of games suffering from other drawbacks. Generally we see console games have much smaller levels, very linear levels, complexity removed so that it can be done with a controller, tiny field of visions, and stuff along those lines.

I still think that without mods many games do suffer from lower res textures especially. I agree on the other aspects of game design which are drawn back on but there is definately a hit when it comes to graphics as well in a lot of games. Either that or the PC version gets held back to focus on the system.

Yes, they do in a way. Most multiplatform games are built to xbox 360 specs and somewhat upgraded for PC and to a lesser extend PS3. For PC gamers we lose out on higher res textures, DX11 tessellation, higher detail models, etc. Look at Deus Ex and tell me that's the end all be all on graphics even considering the art style.

[QUOTE="AmazonTreeBoa"]Mods do not count for determining graphics king.jer_1
Wrong and wrong and wrong. Everyone with a PC already knows this is true, you just never even made it to the party.

As this Quake 2 mod demonstrates?

[QUOTE="marq4porsche"]

[QUOTE="KevinPlanet"]

This is perhaps one of the dumbest threads with a large amount of posts...

"Uncharted 3" had a multimillion dollar ad campaign and I'm sure you saw the Subway commercial with Nathan Drake in it. If you don't believe that's a marketable franchise then perhaps you are too blind of a fanboy to see anything different.

This gen Uncharted is Sony's most "marketable" franchise. Theres also "Infamous" and "LittleBigPlanet" but those are much less well known than "Uncharted" is.

You can barely say the same thing about Microsoft, "Halo" is their most popular franchise and obviously its marketable, but "Gears of War" as popular as it is, isn't a household name (Halo and Uncharted aren't either actually) and kids aren't in toys r us playing with "Gears of War" action figures....

Case in point, Sony does have marketable franchises, they have many actually...

KevinPlanet

Uncharted is a great game and the series is pretty awesome. But even with it's ad campaign the series isn't really popular outside of gamers. The same thing can be said about Killzone and God of War. Little Big Planet is their best chance imo but I feel Sony needs to market it better and push more outside of typical gaming like Nintendo and Microsoft have. Heck even Angery Birds has more of a following and is in the public eye far moreso than the Uncharted series is. So maybe it is you who is too blind to see past their obvious Sony bias to see an honest critique that many here see as well.

You're not making any sense....your entire thread is stating that Sony lacks a marketable franchise and that's completely not true. Go look up the definition of marketable if you need to know what it means. Pretty much every 1st party game Sony's released as of late is marketable, regardless of there being toys or whatever you seem to think marketability TRULY should entail, and do you even notice how Microsoft advertises their titles? The only 1st party Microsoft games that get a big push are "Halo" and "Gears of War," how many people know what Crackdown or Alan Wake are outside of gamers? Or Fable? Or Forza? Microsoft does not give every game they release $100 million ad campaigns, nor are they all household names...the ONLY household name in gaming is Mario, my grandmother knows what Mario is, she however does not know what a Master Chief is. Just because you see toys and board games with Halo on it does not mean that any other game that does not have the same is not marketable

What are you implying btw, Sony should milk their best franchises for all their worth because Microsoft is doing the same with Halo? That has nothing to do with releasing games...if you wanna say Sony doesn't do a good enough job marketing their 1st party franchises then that's fine (even though they have so many that giving all a big marketing push is unrealistic) but to say they have no marketable franchises is nonsensical...

Fine, what I meant is that they are not using their series to their full potential. Nintendo does with many of theirs, Microsoft does with Halo and Gears. I'm pretty sure you are correct about the other Microsoft properties. I feel that Sony has series that are full of potential and that they should not only be marketing towards gamers but toward larger markets. That would enable them to be more successful. I said in my post I may be wrong so don't get so bent out of shape. I also never said that all of Microsoft's or Nintendo's franchises were but you're implying that I am. Plus I don't feel that Microsoft are milking their franchises, but they sure do put Halo out there and it garners a lot of attention for them. And that is only a good thing.

Sony changes their franchises every gen. So you're telling me God Of War, Uncharted, Killzone, Jax and Daxter, Rachet and Clank, Crash Bandicoot, LBP, Wipeout and Twisted Metal aren't marktable? You so are a fool and such a fail at trolling.HaloPimp978
And maybe people should read what I actually posted. They may be markerable but Sony sure as hell ain't using them properly.
