There are always two sides to the story, and as consumers we often look at the situation from one point of view. And that point of view is one that serves our interest as consumers. But you also have to consider that these companies are often operating in the margins. Take EA for instance, a company that everyone loves to hate on. They have been steadidly losing money for the last half decade. You hate DLC, well they consider it as a viable source of income because it can create an extra source of revenue for them, it's not being greedy, its being able to stay afloat in an industry that has become vastly expensive to operate in.
We just lost one major publisher in THQ, tens of developers have closed their doors in recent years and you don't know why these companies that are still around are streching for every dime they can get? Why do you think Activision milks their franchises so hard? Because they know COD will sell. And they need it to because they don't really have any other franchises outside of Blizzard that can produce the sort of numbers they need to do to stay in business. No we don't have to like it, but I do think that once you view things from another perspective you can see why they are doing these things. Trust me, if I were to put you into their situation, you would either do what they're doing or go under.
