I will agree with you on everything except for the graphics. When you first start to play this game, yes you will be amazed by the graphics, but the more you play this game, the textures are muddy and not as good as the first few levels! I can't wait for the next splinter cell, it should look better than this one.
A beta is an unpolished version of a demo, meaning the graphics you will see in the beta is far from what it's going to look like in the final built of the game.
no, i use to input rechargeable batteries in my controller and i've noticed that they do not last close to 20 hours. It is better to stick with the microsoft batterie packs.
I live in Canada as well and it's been 6 simultaneous downloads since the last update in fall 06...there must have been a problem with your update last year on your console :S
