Maybe cause they die a lot faster? Not sure lol

Or maybe it's because they want you to buy their Rechargeable battery packs instead?

no, i use to input rechargeable batteries in my controller and i've noticed that they do not last close to 20 hours. It is better to stick with the microsoft batterie packs.

Rhaxdric

Yeah but why would you want to buy a third party accessory when you can get the official one?

While I personally don't know the reason MS says not to, I do know it can be for many reasons you might not think of. Here's a quick google on differances in batteries.

Because MS doesn't make rechargeable batteries. They make the battery packs that they recommend you use instead. :P

LMAO! sorry, thats bs, i use Uniross rechargable batteries, and they hardly die, they last like 20 hours, but its fine for me. Whats the point in spending another £20 when i've already got a set of rechargable batteries with charger.
Just M$ trying to pursuade people to buy their battery packs.

Exactly. Although regular batteries die a bit too soon, so I guess those packs are better. Don't know why I haven't switched to them myself, must've spent enough money on batteries that I could easily have gotten 10 of them there packs already.

So theres 1st party rechargable controllers?

Microsoft has not sold the rights to make wireless controllers for the 360, so right now they are the only ones.  That means that there are NO 3rd party "rechargable" controllers because all of the 3rd part controllers a wired, hence no need for a battery.

Also, to make the official microsoft controller rechargable you have to buy either the "Play & Charge" kit or the "Quick Charge" kit.

Finally, to the TC, Microsoft doesn't want you to use AA batteries because they want to make money off of you buy making you but one of the aforementioned charge kits.  You could use rechargable AA's if you'd like, just be aware that it may void your warranty.
