I gotta say, I was skeptical about this game. I didn't (and don't) really like the the arstyle but it won me over almost instantly once I started playing it. It is very definitely a Zelda game but adds improvements in control, pacing and puzzle-solving that make it a fresh and immediately enjoyable experience. I don't see myself getting much done before I finish this.

I am really curious if they will come out w/ another 3DS. Seems like the system will be around for at least a few years so I figure Nintendo will be breaking out at least one more revision. Personally, what I'd like is something about the same size as the XL but w/ better screens. I don't think that will happen. I will say though I think the next iteration will be like DSi where it will lose some backwards compatability. So the next 3DS will not play DS games. Of course, that was my prediction before 2DS so if I keep making it, it is bound to come true eventually...
i don't think many here would be able to tell you. but ALttP is a game i felt was needlessly long and, while it's the foundation of every zelda game since, it's far from the best. ALBW addresses that by having amazing dungeons, tweaks to link's movement speed and access to fast travel, and a bunch of other seemingly minor stuff that results in an incredibly smooth experience.
I agree. I've always felt ALttP was overrated as far as it's general quality vs. other old-school Zelda games. I think pretty all three of the Game Boy/Color games are at least as good or better, for example. This said, it's still a great game.
Personally, I don't think ALBW and ALttP feel all that similar so I think you'd be fine to go right in and start on ALBW right away. ALBW has a bit of nostalgia going for it, of course, but it's a much more lively, faster paced game. Really, there is a pretty big difference in how you move around w/ the true analog control vs. d-pad and so pretty much every second you're playing, you are reminded you are playing a more modern game.
I am not too far in but so far I am definitely willing to say that I am liking ALBW lot better than ALttP (which I just played on GBA pretty recently, by the way).
I absolutely loved Soul Hackers (*point to avatar*). It takes a lot of fooling around to figure out how everything works but that's all part of the appeal, ultimately. I get the feeling it was pretty old school even when it was released originally on Saturn. For what it's worth, I liked it a bunch better than SMT IV, which was good but I thought Soul Hackers was much more engaging overall.
I am getting to be on something of an Atlus kick now. I am playing Millenium Girl now and will probably move on to another Atlus game really soon. Can't decide between Etrian Odyssey IV, Devil Survivor Overclocked or maybe Persona IV on Vita.

Bought the original at launch but gave it away when I got my XL a few months after it launched. It is far and away my most played system.
They rate handheld games low in general here. I really don't know why. I get when it's something like those crappy handheld versions of the Lego games or whatever since those games are legitimately bad but when the games are actually good, it seems like they are comparing them to some high standard set by PC and home console games that doesn't really exist in reality. In any case, I just add one to the scores given here to handheld games and that gives you a pretty fair comparison in my opinion.
For what it's worth, I actually like that GameSpot rates lower than other sites. They are critics being critical. That is good. Critics should disagree. The trick is to find one you like and go w/ them. This doesn't excuse treating handheld titles as second class citizens though.
just ordered smt 4.. relatively new to the megami tensai series.. played dds and p3 and p4... lets see how this goes.. heard its brutally difficultvoljin1987
Just the beginning, really, and then every now and again there will be a boss that gives me fits. There is kind of a trick to the battle system that you need to exploit to get through more easily (basically focus on finding enemies' weaknesses). Once you've got that figured out, it is much easier. Early on I was just trying to bash my way through everything and that doesn't work.
My guess--and everyone here is just guessing--is there will be at least one more. There were four versions of the GBA (original, front lit SP, back lit SP, Micro) and four of the DS (original, Lite, DSi, DSiXL) so I am thinking they are going to have one more. My guess for the next one is they might try to focus more on internal storage/downloadable games and maybe they will get rid of DS backwards compatability.
