It plays fine on the One X. I'm really enjoying it. There are a couple of frame skips here and there, but the performance is acceptable for a release. It will be patched.
I'm a guy in his 40's so I can afford what I want, but I do remember when I couldn't.
I agree with your premise., but I'm not too upset with the pricing. I'll buy things installments if it means I don't have to pay lots of money down on things (obviously depending on the APR). The APR on this purchase is about 10%, which is good for store credit.
The name of the game for many people is to make payments, but still have money for when their car breaks down, needs new tires or they can't get many hours at work because a kid is sick. This allows them to do so.
@bdrtfm: I think multiple SKUs as in higher and lower versions with different GPUs, storage capacities, and price. We'll want the high spec'd machine (and maybe skimp on storage space if we want to save a couple of bucks).
There won't be a new version our for a couple of years and that will likely be a slim with better cooling and maybe an upgraded HDMI spec.
