Hi All!

We're a team of regular Johns creating a freeware adventure game via AGS and I’m looking for a Character illustrator and a pixel art sprite designer / animator. Or actually anyone familiar with AGS that can help put it together. Whilst I'm, familiar with AGS myself, I have my hands tied with creating art and music for the project

I feel that a lot of the adventure games created nowadays don’t capture the heart and soul of the classics. I have started work on developing a short adventure game that will probably last around 2 hours that will basically be ‘Act One’... and if we choose to develop it further then we can, but it will stand alone as a nice little game in it’s own right… and who knows what else? We have some of the script already and it will be VERY funny in a Lucasarts way and low res 800x600 art style.

We have a good team already. I’m doing background art (in pencil at the moment - to be coloured soon, Lucas style - see attachment), I have 2 professional musicians and have my own music production studio for BGM and voice work. I have 3 professional voice actors with extensive experience via theatre company’s. I have a professional script writer that I will be working closely with and I have a variety of ‘adventure addict’ friends willing to test pre release and a game designer that works for Rare who is willing to oversee the production at various stages and offer advice.

Needless to say the emphasis is on quality, and even though it will be a short production, the time scale will depend on what help we can get. We want to bring the soul and comedy back to adventure games. It will not be a paid job, and it may take a long time…. we’re talking a year plus, maybe a lot less if we get enough help. It’s a hobby project… at least for now.

This project is based in the west midlands, UK, but with the magic of the internet, it doesn’t matter where you are.

Let me know if interested and have any of the skills mentioned (or any I haven’t) ! and I can pass on more information including concept art, basic story and general game structure. Thanks! Even if you're not professional then that's fine, neither are we..... it's just a bit of fun that could lead to something bigger.

Serious interest only though please

See pic below for an example of concept art.

cheers

Lee

@puckhog04

to be fair... this game is a very niche game... as was gothic. It's a love it or hate it kinda thing.

if you are unfamiliar with the series... a rental is recommended before you spend your cash... but i wouldnt listen too much to the forthcoming reviews - go on gamer reviews for a more accurate description.

i have the 360 version..... and i have to admit... im hooked.

for anyone that doesnt know - this game was made by gothic developers (they have lost the IP now) and IS a gothic game in everything but the name.

the graphics dont compare to the pc version. It seems that piranha bytes are relatively new at coding for the 360... and it shows. The draw distance is awful, blocky character models, useless map, framerate isnt bad though. The graphics arent terrible all in all though, i've certainly seen worse. Comparable to a high end original xbox game with a few bells and whistles, like motion blur etc. Overall the game is so enjoyable, it's easy to forgive it's shortcomings in this version.

there is a meaty RPG here... and thats where this game shines... the core elements from the PC version remain intact... a massive open world with tons of NPC's and a ridiculous amount of quests, decent (and funny) voice acting,Great atmosphere and improved fighting mechanics over previous Gothic games. (As a godsend - the game actually pauses when you open your inventory mid battle for healing herbs etc... which it didnt in Gothic!)

rule of thumb - if you loved the gothic series on PC and dont havea high end PC to run this, then you wont be making a mistake getting this on 360. the graphics arent up to scratch compared to other 360 games or the PC versionand it is rather clunky and slightly buggy as far as console games go, like the pre patched PC versions of gothic.... but there's a wealth of hardcore RPG/Adventure content here.... enough to satisfy any hardcore RPGer! This really is substance over style, an in my opinion, a lot deeper than comparable games such asoblivion.

Gamespot will slate this version and it will end up in bargain bins vey shortly... which is a shame, but true..... then is the time to grab a bargain.

Not as bad as people say - recommended!
