I honestly think the end game is to “revolutionize television”, by being able to sell ads by giving us crap to watch commercials. If they monetize gamer points or make something like gamer points for television, and award you points for actually watching ads then they can sell more advertising by making sure you aren’t using a DVR to just fast forward. Imagine getting free samples of a new product (say a new flavor of Mountain Dew) for watching an ad for it with the Kinect watching you watch the ad. Or getting “10 credits” for watching the Walking Dead all the way through with the ads. Suddenly you’re getting credited for watching commercials and MS is getting a ton for ads based on how many people participate. You can then use the credits on merchandise. I think that is part of the end game imo.

@DeadxReckoning7 My family uses it too, but the bottomline is that while it may be something the few want it isn't something demanded by the masses, so to force those to pay for it isn't a great deal. And if you really are honest about it, how much content have they made for it that the core consumer (the people who make the industry run) would want and buy?

The real reason it is going to be in there is so they can try and convince devs to make games for it by saying every Xbone owner has one so the install base is large enough on day one that devs won't be afraid they are wasting resources on a device that people don't own. I get it, but forcing people who don't want it to pay for it isn't the wisest business decision.

@NTM23 Gotcha, I still buy a few blu-rays as well. Now if they started putting all the features in the online purchases then it may be a different story. But I have the Dark Knight tril and those kind of things as well so I get you.

@chevelle451 @NTM23 You two are becoming the exception rather than the rule. Truthfully, as much as people came out against MS for this, it is just a generation too early. Tablets sale me way more books than book stores. I have most of my book collection in my pocket, iTunes has been putting music stores out of business, and Steam is making a ton.

For all the fuss, I'll probably buy most of my games day one on console for the ones worth buying. Having those games anywhere I go regardless of what happens... say your house burns down and you have to replace everything you own. I'd still have ever game I bought online while my hard copies will be lost.

@NTM23 @chevelle451 Seriously though, that is just resistance to change. I like the comfort of having it, but I don't remember the last time I went to a video store to rent a movie. The moment they went digital I went with them.

@godfather830 Yes, make people pay $100 for something they don't want and call it value. Great marketing on their part.

@chevelle451 If they were smart they'd make that and charge $200 less. A ton of people would buy it and they'd get their online-only console. Problem is they don't want to take that temporary hit to the pocket.

@Belokkian You mean the platform that basically put in place a decade ago what MS was attempting to do this year? Yes, that really solved your DRM problem. Everyone knows you trade in and resale your Steam games everyday...

Got to love these analyst that state the obvious. MS reversing a stance that was hated is good for sales... Well maybe that is why they did it in the first place. No crap!

Their holding out on saying the words but I smell a holiday price drop coming. They just want as many people to buy it now at the price it has to keep from losing money, but they can't compete with the PS4. The PS4 could cost $100 more and they wouldn't be able to compete, but at just an extra $50... The HDD space alone is worth that. Plus you get better tech, better games, and more 3rd party support. Keep trying to hold your head high Nintendo, but I'm not buying it.
