@Jaded_Dragon: They are LITERALLY prohibiting the sale of books, films, games and the like under the grounds they are considered obscene and you're seriously asking what part of that means Ebay is censoring??

Unbelievable. And you're telling me to grow up.

@zyxe: Oh, so now it just sucks. And pointing out that your argument is asinine is somehow bait and switch. Yeah, gotcha, lovely to have moderators who have no clue what censorship actually is and just flat out tell people "No, it's not" and if one argues, just accuse them of bait and switch.

*thumbs up*

And seriously, you're a moderator for Gamestop and you're somehow unaware of the fact Sony has been forcing game devs to censor themselves or flat out removing parts of games in order to get released on PSN? God damn.

@bbq_R0ADK1LL: Yeah, no.

"to remove the parts of a book, film, etc. that are considered to be offensive or a political threat" is the basic definition of censor. However, you want a broader, more in depth idea of what censorship is, read up on the wiki.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Censorship

What other platform? You all keep acting like there's some competitor to Ebay. There isn't. What weird ass world do you all live in?

Pull your head out of your backside and learn what censorship actually is. Hint - it is not restricted to what the government does.

@zyxe: Censorship is not beholden to the government deciding it's bad. What you're claiming is akin to stating Sony hasn't been censoring games because developers agree to their terms and conditions to sell through their network and console, and we all agree to them by making a PSN account. The amount of apologist BS you spin here is asinine.

Corporations don't give a flying fig about you. Stop defending them.

This is most definitely censorship. And yes, Ebay has restricted and prohibited items, which has also been censorship. What, you think banning nazi items wasn't censorship?? -.-

@swatleader316: This is literally censorship. A parent company is explicitly banning the sale of various things that people can sell in their own businesses/storefronts. Just because you can get them from other sources doesn't negate the fact this is censorship. Censorship is not beholden to something being banned from every potential source.

@Jaded_Dragon: Not the same at all. Your own personal business and your personal choice? All fine and dandy.

Your business is not reliant on Ebay however. Ebay is making this decision for EVERY person who has a storefront/business through them. They are effectively deciding for people, what they can and cannot sell. That is LITERALLY censorship.

It's not like one seller is suddenly deciding to stop selling this stuff, and oh hey, just go to some other seller!

You gotta learn the difference between a single business run by one or just a few people, and a conglomeration that exists solely because of millions of smaller businesses that people created and run through it. Yeah?
