Most recent one I can think of is Ellie, her character development is fantastic and she really breaks apart from lots of typical cliches. Its like they set out to write a great character, who's female, instead of thinking "oh this is going to be a female character, therefore we must follow these set female rules and etc. etc."

No mention of Planescape: Torment?

The game's plot is just beyond words, really one of those rare treasures that leaves you feeling empty when you reach the ending, knowing that you most probably won't experience something like it ever again.

I really, really, really want to play that one of these days. Everything I've heard about it makes it sound incredible.

You absolutely should, be sure to nab it off GOG and use the modding guide they set up there, the game is unplayable without that guide otherwise.

Jak 2

It looks very impressive for such an old PS2 title, its got tons of mission variety, likable characters, and really can be lots of fun when things go smoothly.

But that difficulty level.... I swear I've conquered both Demon's and Dark Souls, owned Super Meat Boy in the face and destroyed VVVVVVV, but never has a game frustrated me more than Jak 2, maybe its the shoddy Vita port making things harder I don't know, but I've reached points where I wanted to fly over to Naughty Dog HQ and slap the shizznit out of whoever designed that game's atrocious difficulty.

I bet the Vita mortality rate tripled after the release of the collection just because of this game alone.

I remember once walking around GTA IV's city, some random criminal was booking it while a fat policeman was hot on his tail, halfway during the chase the cop gets tired, runs up to a nearby ice cream truck, throws the driver out and drives away into the sunset. It was beautiful. I'm definitely walking around Los Santos first, hopefully that randomness factor is still there, it makes the game feels so oddly alive.

Still need to play the Syberia games and some other point and click games I've had for awhile.

Planescape Torment, Journey, Bastion, Silent Hill 2, Mass Effect until the ending, and The Walking Dead come to mind.

No mention of Planescape: Torment?Legolas_Katarn

People are bringing up Gears of War, how many here do you really think played that? I should have hit submit for my post before getting something to eat and I would have been just in time to keep you from saying that.

Hahahaha, at least I'm not the only one anymore :P

By principle I never replay a game twice in quick succession, let alone four times. Any game with a "true ending" is youtube for me. I play an average of 70 games a year, I just don't have time to play some multiple times or go on a collectible hunt just to see a slightly different ending.

Feel free to call me a noob, but that's how I roll ;)

Noob! Kidding :P I'm the same actually, I very, very rarely replay something, my backlog is just too big and my OCD won't allow me to not leave it growing there

I am currently playing Nier. The story is bearable at the moment, I hoping it does become grinding later on. Metal Gear series have never interest me and Eternal Sonata dialogue and characters were annoying.

Be sure to do a second playthrough with your save (and a third one is also recommended) once you're done, I won't say why because spoilers but trust me, you will not regret doing so.

Or just watch the 3 alternate endings on youtube like everybody else

The whole second playthrough centers around revealing the most important plot point in the game and is basically half the reason why its story is excellent.

The third playthrough does nothing but let you play through the game again to experience a different ending which reveals more about the plot

The final alternate ending on the other hand is absolutely gut-wrenching, its also directed more towards specifically kicking your heart in the testicles, something that completely falls flat if you quickly watch it on youtube.

So yeahhhh, skipping over to youtube? Not smart if you want to fully experience the game.

[QUOTE="Black_Knight_00"] Oh there are many more games that have plots that don't make you roll your eyes. Nier, Metal Gear, Eternal Sonata, just to name a few. Sadly they are a minority, at least by my standards.Pedro
