@5tu88sy: It's called wasting money and barely getting a performance boost that you will notice if you are constantly upgrading from to the latest and greatest. Games aren't built to take full advantage of all the additional headroom with things like clock speeds, VRAM, and such. Having 24gb VRAM of DDR6x means a good chunk of that is sitting there doing nothing while playing even the most demanding games.

Like imagine buying a Ferrari and everything that comes with that yet instead of using the car to its fullest potential you use it to drive down the street to your job and the highest speed it ever hits is 30 mph. Next year the new model is coming out so you decide to trade in what you currently got and get the next top of the line model even though you won't ever make use of it.

There's just no reason and as the old saying goes a fool and his money will soon be parted.

@DeadManRollin: The thing I love about PC gaming is how I can adjust the settings to meet whatever my rig is at so even after like 8-10 years I can still play the latest games just not at the highest settings.

You're a sucker if you keep constantly upgrading just cause there's better hardware.

@mdinger:

You know what is great for industries?

Competition.

That's what exclusives bring.

If all games were accessible on all platforms then there would eventually just be a platform. When there is competition companies have to innovate and get creative with what they do.

Exclusives also allow games to play to the strengths of a particular platform and not have to find a happy middle ground. This is why exclusives tend to look and run better than multiplatform games. Exclusives also help platforms to establish a brand identity based on the games it features.

No it's not, a review is that person's take on a game; their personal opinion.

If reviews were all meant to be the same then the industry would end up in a sad state of formulaic titles which are all similar to one another as companies simply try to get the best score possible.

Starting to remember why I stopped bothering with Gamespot.

Oh it's not the content or writers, never really had a problem there. It's the entire community.

Seriously this is a review for a game I'm guessing none of you have played yet. So I'm not sure how some of you are claiming this isn't a good review or even outright attacking the writer because of personal life choices.

A review is an opinion, a personal opinion which none of you have the ability to influence or a right to refute. If the writer doesn't care for the tone or certain take on aspects of the game who are you to tell them they are wrong? No seriously who are you?

I remember pretty fondly when GTA IV got a 10 and then a few weeks/months later a lot of people realized the game wasn't perfect or deserving of that score.

For those complaining about aspects of this review that you don't agree with and trying to discredit the writer need to go stick your head in the oven for an hour. Utterly sick of this nonsense.

I'm kind of laughing over their complaints of relying on the same characters constantly when Nintendo has managed to shake up each formula quite a bit over the years. Where other companies are running their IPs into the ground (Resident Evil) or are starting to run out of ideas on where a franchise should go next (God of War) Nintendo is still finding ways to deliver a similar experience but in a new way.

When I hear things like "They haven't really done anything new with Mario" then I look over at Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario 3D Land then compare those to the New Super Mario Bros. series I kind of wonder what games these guys have been playing because each of those titles are quite a bit different from the others. I've never played a platformer like Galaxy before, 3D Land is a great mixture of old and new ideas, and the New series acts as a nice trip down memory lane while giving me a few new concepts to play with.

Nintendo has a successful business model and a huge stable of proven IPs. Just because a few people are dissatisfied doesn't mean that Nintendo's model is weak or needs to change.

Ok wow, that last page was comparing stuff that wasn't even featured in both games. Here's a hallway that looks nothing like this hallway! Here's a beach that looks nothing like this beach! Look at this rock I mean the trees and compare them to these trees over here! They should have featured more enemies than just the grunt. This article is sub par at best.

@ sonoranreptile It could be keeping the DS name because it is still rocking 2 screens... Just a thought. Also it's common practice to keep a name going into a new generation and Nintendo has typically done this with their handhelds (Gameboy, Gameboy Pocket, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, Gameboy Advance SP). Just look at the Xbox and Playstation as well....
