Someone here mentioned Mass Effect as a game that makes you think and feel beyond simply being "fun". I think that part of the problem with military shooters is that they remove you from those tough choices by scripting everything and not making it clear that there was an alternative to your actions. What if a shooter could incorporate somehow actual choices and decision making? This is one of the aspects of real war that is so difficult, that sometimes you have to decide between one life and another. Or many lives. If you give the player that power then you really are making a statement. I think developers need to embrace more what video games can achieve that movies and TV can't, which is total interaction. Picking up ammo and new guns and opening doors just isn't enough anymore.
@georgeschall I like GS as it is. I was just watching Start-Select and as usual it was very funny. The Hotstop is great too. You are right that this show does not fit GS at all, it is catering to the baser level of GS users. Which I guess is fine, but I will not be watching this if it continues. I'm surprised that it's on here at all, I have felt for a while now that GS knows it audience and has stuck to it pretty well, but this is way off.
@Timmy_Gwar I don't find vulgar humor like this very funny, that's all. It's not clever and it's easy to do. Most people apparently disagree with me because as you said, it sells. Doesn't mean I have to like it. I think GS can do and have done a lot better.
