@Derekuda Yeah, there are some angry folks on tonight. Let's all take Valium, count to 10, and relax. It's Friday night, and I'm headed to a BBQ. Everyone's invited! BYOB please.
I love Souls, and there's a part of me that doesn't want the series to be too mainstream. When I hear someone say they don't like it, my reaction is "Good! I don't want you to play it!" If someone doesn't "get" it, maybe they should just stay away and leave the game to us who do get it. I love the fan base it has, and I don't want to waste my breath trying to recruit new fans... as long as From keeps making more!
Either you like it or you don't. I'm a big fan of the series and I'm enjoying this game quite a bit. If you don't like it, don't play it. I won't miss you.
My rule of thumb during free time: Play a game until it starts to feel like "work." Then play a different game or pick up the guitar or do something else that feels more "fun."
@grove12345 I couldn't agree more with your "competition" comment. Competition garners higher quality, lower prices, and consumer choice. It would be bad news for gamers if either Sony or Microsoft had a monopoly on the market. It's fun to bet on a horse and compare the success of the two companies, but I'm glad they're both in the running.
@rupti I remember the "Sega vs. Nintendo graphics" bantering was very similar to today's. I also remember being floored when I saw the brand-new SNES graphics.
I think there's a component of maturity - or lack thereof - related to those who are arguing about the graphics comparison. I expect 12- or 13-year-olds to argue about it. The rest of us who are older have more things to be concerned about. Plus we have jobs and understand we're probably going to get both systems eventually anyway,
