My initial gut reaction to the price of the Wii was bad. I was expecting the Northa America price of $250 to really include everything it did, plus either one VC controller and 2000 points or a second wiimote and nunchuk. Many people consider Wiisports a great pack in "game", I don't consider it a full game, more like a few minigames to get you familar with the Wiimote, its actually a good selling point and Wiisports is very unintimidating therefore it was just good business for Nintendo. Regarding technology VS Xbox 360 price point and the comments made about that. Really this is a well designed machine. It doesn't take up nearly as much space as the 360 or PS3 will which means lots of the development cost with the system went into making it smaller as opposed to making faster. The Wii I believe is strong enough to do its goal, more of anything never hurts, but with the heating problems of the 360 and apparently PS3 at TGS, I am starting to wonder if the Wii was smart not to put so much high power performance in its system to save on repair and customer fustration. I think with Nintendo's overall slogan of playing = believing and the fact that they want families to play games together, I can't justify it coming with one controller. I would have rather saw two controllers than a Wiisports pack in. Nintendo is in line to provide the first unique gaming experience in a while. I think most of the positive press comes from this fact. That is never a bad thing. Doing something different and relevant much like the Wii is can only lead to good ideas even if its not by Nintnedo. I am looking forward to the unique games the system will attract and new IP's over the existing ones. Changing conventonal gameplay for the masses is important, but just as the Wii is new and refreshing the games really need to be that way too for the Wii to stand out. I hope the Wii jumps out like the DS with a unique software library. I for one am not ready for HD or the prices that come with it. I want to just game for the fun of it and enjoy gaming with friends. I think the Wii is the best to do that this generation, not just because of the price, but because the orientation of most games really calls out to more than one player. Overall the Wii is on the mark with what it wants to do. The $250 price tag isn't enough to turn me off and Wii channels is a nice added feature. With its unique experience, small form factor, great launch numbers and decent line up for launch I don't see why any gamer should not give this console a chance. Many of us complain about more of the same, but if we don't support new ideas we will always be stuck with more of the same. Wii is my most anticipated console of this year and will be so no matter what.

Some People think that anyone would pay any price for a game console. That isn't true at all. Looking at only the economic side of the prospective, its essentially two categories of people that will make or break any technology product sale. EARLY ADOPTERS - these are people who have the money and want to be in line with the latest and greatest. History has shown that having the latest and greatest is not only not cost effective, but you tend to get a weaker product in the beginning because the technology is new and expensive to produce. In the case of the PS3, instead of speaking of features, we are talking about a weak line up of games. With companies like Ubisoft and Sega openly saying sony needs to cut the price. Its obvious that more than what is openly stated, developers aren't wanting to invest as much money in the PS3. Especially when the xbox 360 is out there, cheaper and as of right now can perform just as well. For those who say wait the PS3 will look better though, SO WHAT? A game isn't all about looks. Gameplay is truely the most important aspect of video games. STANDARDIZATION GROUP - this is the group of people who have either saved enough money to purchase or have levied change in the market to adopt. This group of people start to buy when there is no shortage and tend to set the trend for price of the system. Its obvious PS3 can't stay this expensive and out sell the 360, there isn't a big eough gap. If sony doesn't cut back on there price and take a bigger hit they will prolong the adoption of there console and we will start seeing exclusive titles go the way of the dinosaur. The fact is sony is so in love with their techology, they forget that its the consumers that make or break what the outcome is of a product. Sony has been #1 too long and needs a reality check. I beleive Nintendo is doing the smart thing here by not creating something that is expensive but rather unique. If that console works out, not only will everyone be able to buy it, but it will be something that no gamer has ever experienced before.

#1: Super Mario Bros (NES) Defined obstacle Games I think few would dispute that the original Super Mario Bros defined platformers and showed the world that fun in games is determined not just by how much fun the current generation can have with a game, but how much fun continuing generations can have with it. #2: Street Fighter II (SNES) Defined dynamics of Fighting Games I remember getting lost in several hours with friends over the Street Fighter Series. This game is a legend for its gameplay and balance which continues to spawn tournaments today. #3: Super Mario 64 (N64) Defined 3D Platform Standards I don't think I was the only one shocked and impressed that Mario poped out of his 2D state in an entertaining adventure that offered hours of fun and innovation, which still 3D platformers can't compete with, not even Nintendo. #4: Final Fantasy VII (PS) Defined a new standard for RPG Final Fantasy VII not only had the first 3D graphical impression of the Final Fantasy Series, but also had a compeling story that was easy to relate to and a battle system that to this day is still revered as the best in the series and for RPG's in general. #5: Chrono Trigger (SNES) Most Fun RPG idea ever I am surprised that more games haven't used this idea. The idea that your techniques working together altered the attack and strategy used against enemies was brilliant. Not only was this game one of the best RPG's ever made, it was also had innovative ideas that never took off but should of in current RPG games.
