I just finished this game. One of the best games ever.

It was clear to me Joel was a sociopath about one hour into the game. I viewed the Fireflies as more moral than him, so in the end of the game I did not kill a single one of them, I just snuck past all of them - its actually pretty easy and am surprised more people don't report doing that. I had already disconnected with Joel as the protagonist. The final decision to kill the doctor is supposed to disconnect players from Joel (or so game critics tell me), but since I already was evading his plans it was not a big deal to me. I was not living his life, I was playing a game. Some people kill all the doctors, its not necessary. I could not advance in the game so I killed one, but then the rest you can ignore. Marlene of course you have no choice.

Joel would have been more justified if he had woken Ellie and asked what she wanted. But Joel only did what he wanted in his twisted desire to replace his daughter. Guy is nuts.

Also, the ending was predictable. I was very sure it would go like it did, so though the ending is intense it did not surprise. Its like The Walking Dead- nothing good is really going to happen. It was predictable and forced. The biology of the fungus is ridiculous anyway but the need to sacrifice Ellie is way too quick. They might reach that choice months after studying her immune system and serum. Jumping to autopsy was bad enough writing that it also threw me out of the story.

Still one of best games ever.

It all depends. Is this another peripheral I am going to buy and Sony is going to ignore? I have the PS4 camera - its a paperweight. I will wait and see if Sony actually uses it.

So was this like a trick topic? No matter how good a game is, a GREAT game has to have replay value and length, no matter the system or genre. This game just doesn't last that long, even if it is great. I'd pick up Ninja Gaiden Sigma,it has brutal and fluid fighting, and can last upwards of 15-20 hours.

I just cant lay down $60 for 10 hours of gameplay (max)

Length is a meaningless metric for a game review, it's borderline idiotic.  Is FF12 a 20/10 because it had 100 hours of gameplay?  Score the game based on its merits, and let people know the length so they can assess its value for themselves.  Its like judgeing a book by how many pages it has.  Gamespot and the other revewers that take into account length are applying a strange metric that cannot will not be applied consistantly and I think they messed up.  It assumes there is an optimum length.

 I think Ico is one of the greatest games ever, its 3-4 hours long the second time.  Big deal.

 As I age I am starting to prefer high quality short games.  I just have too much to do in the real world.  

I won't sign the petition because it does nothing - in the market you petition by buying.  But the game was very enjoyable.

Would love Guild Wars 2 on PS3

Hey all. I am thinking of getting a PS3 vs XBOX360, and heavily leaning toward PS3 due to Blu-Ray bonus and general history of innovative games on the playstation platform (littlebigworld confirms my suspicion here). I was just trying to find upcoming games that I would like on both systems. I am excited about Final Fantasy, any game from the ICO group, and some other PS3 games. I don't care about FPSs. I don't like Japanese RPGs for the most part (I enjoy FF though, as a nocticble exception). On XBOX360 there appear to be way more RPGs of the type I will enjoy - Fable, Mass Effect and the descendant of the greatest game ever - Bioshock. The XBOX also appears to lean way toward boring FPS - I mean the centerpiece is Halo (snooore).

Oh, I also like Diablo like games - Snowblind did right by me on the PS2 many times. And my kids love the Eyetoy and that looks to be even better in the next gen.

Can anyone point out PS3 coming games that are Western RPGs? I may just be forced to buy Xbox360 a few years after my PS3 purchase. Any advice. Honestly not trolling, a PS3 is in my amazon shopping cart right now and negotions with wife are in play. I just don't want to end up with a console with games I don't want to play.
