thanks for that will try tomo.

will the sound quality still be as good as it can be this way?

bob_geldof221

Sound quality will be pretty much the same unless you have a 7.1 setup in your home. Most bluray movies support 5.1 and 7.1 truhd sound which can only be utilized if you use an hdmi cable. (although some bluray movies support uncompressed audio, there are some that only support 5.1 truhd) Keep in mind the 5.1 dolby digital audio is still supported as well as DTS formats depending on the movie but for truhd your reciever has to support the format as well as using hdmi cables.

I've just purchased a new Sony Bravia KDL52W4100 HD TV along with a Sony HT-SF2300 Home Theatre System primarily for my Playstation 3 gaming. I've got the PS3 hooked up to the Home Theatre Receiver via official PS3 HDMI cable, and then the Home Theatre connected to the TV via the exact same official PS3 HDMI cable. During gameplay, my receiver will "hiccup" and show a message saying "PCM 48" and both audio and video are cut out for a brief second or two. The TV and PS3 both remain on, while the receiver does this strange "hiccup". It only happens once during a gaming session and is fine until I turn on the PS3 again later. It's very annoying when you're in game, and it happens! I was wondering if maybe there's an issue with my settings (I've got it set to HDMI for both audio and video at 1080p on the PS3, and the TV is 1080p as well) or if I should buy an optical cable for my audio to the receiver instead. I really need help with this. Any information would be helpful!

Thanks,

Mike

From the looks of things looks like you found yourself a solution. My only comment of using optical from your ps3 to your television is you will not get 7.1 truhd sound when watching some blurray movies or 5.1 truhd. (Although that is dependant on your reciever supporting truhd) My recommendation is to see if there is an update for your reciever. New recievers usually have update capablities. Check the manufatures website and hopefully they have an update.

It's one of those precautions just in cause the controller has been registered with another device, it will be able to connect with the current ps3 you are using.

Yeah well i heard the demo is bad and its really short, so i didnt feel like downloading it because you know it might suck... but thats why im asking you guys :D?Ownsin

Just try the demo. It is short, but it does give you a small idea of how the game plays. If you like graphics and the grainy look then you should just try the demo.

Well it depends on what you want I guess. The good thing about buying a used system would be the chances of getting a used 20gig, or even 60 gig system, which has the backwards compatibility driven by hardware. I know when I asked someone at gamestop about a used system, they told me they ship them back to their warehouse, and playstation 3 gets reformated and cleaned up then sent back to random stores.

Does anyone think that Diablo 3 will actually be ported onto other consoles, specifically the PS3, like Blizzard hinted? I think that this is actually possible now that Activision and Blizzard are combined because Activision has already made successful games for the PS3.wcbballkid

I would think a Slim....very slim maybe. Like others have said, Blizzard usually sticks to the PC realm, but who knows. After all they did release diablo on the Ps1 back-in-the-day :)

WOW, sounds like you are having a nice BDAY! Happy BDAY to you! Congrats on getting a PS3! (man luckly that someone could get you such an expensive gift). My suggestions, try Uncharted if you like platformers, that is my favorite game on PS3. Oh GT5 awesome stuff, I have that one too and I love it. If youlike resistance get COD4. Also try these titles out....Assassins Creed, Heavinly Sword, and Devil May Cry 4.

Indigo Propehcy is one of my favorite games of all time. So I've been looking forward to this game since they showed that design trailer or whatever you want to call itCSI24

I have eeto agree with you on Indigo Prophecy. I love the style of game play, it was really different for it's time, and the story line proved to make it an interesting game. I hope heavy rain follows suite.
