I like the Wii U alot. I still use it almost everyday, and most of the time not even for games.

The gamepad is nice for:

-Games with heavy menu systems.

-Playing when someone else is watching TV.

-Stylus is great for entering stuff with a keyboard.

Streaming:

Youtube, Netflix, Amazon, and website streaming all work great. Sure you can have another device do this, but having 1 less device is also great.

Games:

Old Wii games work. I don't play them often. The Virtual Console for old NES\SNES\N64 between the Wii U and Wii is way better than any of the PS4 or Xbox console\arcade games. Exclusive games are great and creative.

What the Wii U is bad for -

Shooters. Just awful. No Halo or Men of Honor or any of those games. I don't play those anymore, so your mileage may vary.

Sports games. Totally ignored.

Game looks awesome. I would be shocked if you bought a $300 system for just 1 game though! There have been some hot Nintendo only games this year.

According to a review I saw elsewhere, it is possible to have 2 players from 1 console play online.

At my house, we have the TV on, and usually 1 person on an iPad and another on their phone. Now the TV is on, the gamepad is out. I definitely lose out on the AAAA titles, but they rarely are as much fun as playing Super Mario with my gf. Online Mario Kart 8 with my friends is pretty awesome too. The virtual console for all the Nintendo games of yesterday is also a nice touch.

I hear a lot about price... I bought a Wii U, 2 Wii motes and had 6 games for the price of a Kinnect'd Xbox. It is a cheaper first or second system than the other two options.

It is way more fun having 3 dragons match up and attack your enemy, instead of matching 3 bubbles and getting points.

There are rpg elements, pieces get stronger, equipment give special bonuses.

Perfect for an iPad. Easy to learn, difficult to master, but not too steep a curve and just enough new pieces add to keep the challenge interesting.

My favs:

Geometry Wars 2 (even my little sister can't get enough)

Toy Soliders 1 and 2

Shadow Complex

Risk

Defense Grid (my fav tower defense game, ever)

Indy games: About $1

Minor Dig Deep

Gerbil Physics

Those are what I own. I have demod almost all the top games, most I am hesistant to put $15 towards. Meat Boy for $5 sounds like a steal (I am going to get that one myself tonight). Splosion man, Limbo and vampire smile were all demos on the bubble for me, great looking games I just wasnt totally at buy mode with.

I always recomend demoing the game first.

We used mine last xmas for about a week, including the dance central game. Biggest drawbacks are the space and energy required to play. After the novelty runs off, you have to ask yourself, how much do you want to move and jump around to make a guy go awkwardly on the tv.

If you want to use it as a way to add activitiy to your life, it is probably worth it.

[QUOTE="xgraderx"]

If the issue is disc swapping. The guys with Blu Ray are spending way more time installing than you are swapping.

jlevin860

THIS. i enjoy the freedom of choosing to just PLAY the game or install it.

you know what's funny? i remember bragging back in the day when ff9 had 4 disks instead of 3 like ff8. (my friend loved ff8 and i hated it)

I thought ff9 was better than ff8. ff8 had the worst combat!

Google search sent me here. I would like Ikari Warriors action! That's old school!

Also, give me some elevator action, I miss that one!
