[QUOTE="Kiddinvalid"][QUOTE="-Karayan-"][QUOTE="Kiddinvalid"][QUOTE="-Karayan-"][QUOTE="Kiddinvalid"]c my rig in the sig. it only gets 23 fps average with 1 or 2 npc's in view with only high settings not max and no AA with 1024x728 resolution. wtf. i would expect this rig to go 1280x10xx (idk) with max settings getting 30 fps what is holding me back. :(Terami

Try to set texture res to medium

o i think it is set to either small or large wichever looks bettter i forget. does that make it look ugly tho. getting a 1680 x 1050 moniter soon and i want to game at this resolution with medium specs wile keepin the items lookking great.

Setting the "texture resolution" to medium improves performance greatly without sacrificing much of a graphical quality.

this may sound impossible but i turned texture to most detailed and turned on AA at 4x and turned on a couple more settings like more shadows and im getting worse frames in caves im getting like 35 instead of 42 but in cities with NPC's im getting 16-19 instead of a previous 13-25 it is much more steady it is still not 30fps were i want it but it stops getting completely bogged down like before.

maybe my graphics settings are messed up. i think i set AA x4 all the time instead of putting it as application controlled. still any ideas would be great.

just sayin my Oblivion stuff i beat all guilds cept dark brotherhood stuff (not the main quest yet cause i like O gates) im like level 29-31 and i got deadric everything with 10% sheild on all of that armor a la mages guild enchating :) also i have glass armor enchanted to give me 105% chameleon even if i hit some1 with sword while not crouching they cant c me :P

I run a P4 2GHz, 1280 DDR, ATI X1600Pro with 512 DDR VRam... Having said that, my system isn't optimal for Oblivion.

However, I shut off any back ground programs that aren't needed(the Oblivion instruction booklet actually tells you how to do this) and I turned all shadows down to 25%. Everything else is on high with HDR in a resolution of 1280x1024. I don't know what my FPS is but I can tell you that the game is smooth. The only stutter I ever get is when I first load into game and spin the camera 360 degrees. After that, it's smooth sailing.

Shadows can reak havoc in many games and aren't always noticed anyway... so turn em down or off. It helps a lot.

Thanks. I'm gonna try it.
