@kingsword onlive is focusing on america exclusively, and each region will have it's own data center. No customer will be any more than 1,000 miles from the server they are interfacing with. I'm somewhat skeptical, but if this works it will turn the gaming industry on its head
this is doubtless the future of media everything server side = no piracy, no downloads, no physical media, no p2p but I'm just not convinced that the infrastructure is quite there for this to work consistently well I'll believe it when I see it
my only real issue is streaming quality. Actually the abundance of issues that exist with video streaming today. Even with broadband can we expect consistently HD video quality? This is a good idea, but I think we'll need to wait for the next leap forward in connection speeds for this to really work properly. Also, what kind of an orphan policy could they possibly have should they go out of business?
OMG cloud gaming basically your playing a game remotely on hardware located elsewhere in the world. Be interested in seeing how this thing actually works. I'm actually surprised no one thought of this sooner.
