I'm thankful for BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger. Freaking love everything about that game. Of course, how can I go without thanking all of you peeps here at GameSpot? :) Thank you!
What happened to the single player experience? It seems that developers are getting away with slapping multiplayer over a title to compensate for overly-short or under-developed single player experiences. Superb Single Player + Solid Local Multiplayer (i.e. GoldenEye) is personally my favorite combination. It saddens me to see developers resort to nowadays, "OH HEY GUISE, THE CRAPPY SINGLE PLAYER EXPERIENCE MIGHT BE ONLY 5 HOURS LONG, BUT WE HAVE CAPTURE THE BODY! IT'S LIKE CAPTURE THE FLAG, EXCEPT WITH A BODY! BUY OUR GAMES!!!" Nothing against online multiplayer, but when it justifies having a crappy single player experience, that's where I draw my line.
Since I easily get immersed in video games, I often feel that whenever these characters get 'denied', I also am faced with a feeling of rejection as well. Ouch
