I've started playing Borderlands 2 and it is not at all what I was expecting. It was not portrayed as heavily RPG as it is. The aspects of the game are more reminiscient of a classic RPG, or even an MMORPG, than an FPS. The mission breakdown is basic fetch or building quests, the inventory management is extensive, and the customization is rich. I don't necessarily mind this, but the game just did not come off like that in the previews and ads. I think the richer-than-expected RPG elements actually lend itself more to an immersive experience that I can put long hours into.

Was anyone else surprised by the similarities of Borderlands 2 to an MMORPG style game?

I played through Skyrim for over one hundred hours and loved it. I got Kingdoms of Amalur too and really like it. The games are different in so many ways. I think the combat in KoA is phenomenal, but the world is not as expansive. It's definitely not as much of a "hardcore" RPG as Skyrim is, but I enjoy that aspect of it.

I usually buy around 15 games a year. FIFA is always on the buy list. For this coming fall/winter makes it tough to pick between 3 for the whole year, but here it goes...

1. FIFA 12

2. Battlefield 3

3. Elder Scrolls: Skyrim/ Assassin's Creed Revelations

Just finished Mortal Kombat. I would rate it a 9/10.

The aspect of the game that I really enjoyed, and what I believe really set it apart from others in the genre, is the extensive single player story. The single player story mode has 16 chapters to it and is really in depth in terms of plot and character development. You get to see the characters decide which side to fight for and you understand why they choose what they do. You contrast that to a game like Marvel vs. Capcom 3, a game that has almost no story at all and the difference is significant.

I'm not saying that other fighting games are not good games, but the fact the MK fuses story with great fight mechanics and a fantastic online atmosphere really sets it apart. If you're on the fence about this game, or are a fan of fighting games and have not picked up Mortal Kombat yet, you definitely should.

Adapting this forum for the closest holiday(ish)... I just pre-ordered L.A. Noire... should be a great game to dive into to start summer off.

It seems at if BioWare definitely made it more mass-appeal friendly. The gameplay is less reminiscent of classic RPGs due to it's super fast paced action. However, the opportunity for strategy is still there. And it is still clear that people who are able to build in depth tactics for each team members and manage their fights the best will perform better than people who just mash buttons. I like that aspect of it. And people are right, the added voice looks and sounds great.

I think that the game may be met with some frustration right away for online play, just because it's different than Halo 3. However, once people learn the different ways to play, I think this will be the best Halo of the franchise. The power ups really allow each person and team to play with a unique strategy.

I think the gameplay is what sucks you in, since you experience it immediately. But the story is what keeps your playing since you become engrossed in it and want to learn more. They both add a separate element that together make an amazing game.

I like when celebs voice for video games... I think it's fun for them and usually they do a good job. Drake being a good artist has nothing to with how well he can voice a character in a game.

[QUOTE="white_sox"]This blows. It is always terrible to see a championship team disbanded slowly piece by piece. I heard this is just the start of things to. Versteeg, Hossa, Niemi, or Sharp could also be on the block. Buff will be missed, but not forgotten.xbox360isgr8t
idk why niemi a rookie would be traded the guy has so much potential. the only guys that are probably gone will be sharp and versteeg. sucks to basically win one and than not know what the future holds.

Plus, that always happens to championship teams. People leave since they can grab a good deal. But this is more business, that cap is impending and they have to make some power moves to be under.
