Exactly. It is becoming glaringly obvious that casual have now stolen the term hardcore and applied to to themselves and not REAL gamers. To me a hardcore gamer isn't someone who buys everything, or only plays one type of game. TO me a real or hardcore gamer is somebody who truly cares about the industry as a whole and wants it to do well. TO me, they are somebody who enjoys all games based on what they offer and not based on some preconceived notion of what a "real" game is. To me, a real or hardcore gamers is somebody who studies and pays attention and knows the history of consoles and gaming as opposed to someone who thinks "it's common knowledge" is enough to explain why they mistook misinformation and persistant rumours as being factual history.

This is all becoming way too common. I enjoy the consoles for what they offer and the unique experiences they provide. Sure, it would be nice if one console offered everything to everyone, but that just isn't realistic. But all too often now I am seeing peopel claiming to be "hardcore gamers" bash any game that isn't AAA or M-rated or a FPS as not being "hardcore". to often I see people acting like no hardcore gamer would ever enjoy Nintendo. Too often I see people claiming to be "hardcore" saying that Sony never delivered on their graphical promises with the PS2, or not understanding what "hidden power" means, or claiming that the PS2 came out first. And WAY WAY too often I've seen people calling extremely popular, super-produced, mass-marketed titles "hardcore" while smaller, less popular niche titles are "casual" when in fact the opposite is true.

Instead hardcore gamer has come to mean somebody who repeats what they hear without thinking, only cares about popular games/genres, and cares more about what people think of them than actually enjoying just playing games.

Thats what i think a Real gamer is, what you just described. Although i suck with names and history, i kinda fail in that section.

I also find it sad when people just want a game just so they can claim ownage (MGS4? it just seems like this to me because many people say "Its just a movie and no gameplay!" and then say "man, i hope it comes to my system")

Ok, this is extremely annoying. I can't watch any videos on gametrailers for some reason. It keeps saying something's wrong with a plug in or something like that. Anyone know how to fix this?

360, Bethesda had an extra year with the PS3 and even then they couldn't get horse armor into the game.thirstychainsaw

Crysis is not a graphical benchmark or anything... there are better looking games... like Bioshock.

Crysis does have the best graphics currently, but Bioshock does come somewhat close. I think Bioshock has a better atsmosphere though.
