It seems like the days of good writing have gone long ago remember games like shenmue, bouncer hell even earthbound tops a lot of these games now in the story department. The problem is that there are more casual gamers who just pick up and play instead of siting and putting hours in a game like back in the day. The tides changed and the developers are just riding those waves.
And that's why I fell in love with the Sony Playstation if it wasn't for them we wouldn't had have the so many indy companies that made such great games plus other franchises which would've fell by the wayside when Nintendo and Sega decided they didn't want them anymore after the Genesis and SNES. ie. Mega Man, Street Fighter, Grand Theft Auto and pretty much every JP-RPG.
Wait a second.... Xbox 360 was region locked as well the only way you can make it region free was by "soft" modding it and last time I checked that got your system banned. So why is everybody upset about this? This is nothing new.
