But games were $75 each, with NO option to buy used.

AND.....you had to pay $100 a year with a minimum 2 year commitment for the console to be operable.

Would you still buy it?

DISCLAIMER: Sony is not doing this, nor are there any rumors that they will be. I'm just seeing who or how many people would pay for a model like this.

I have no idea, but I don't think that I will ever feel like I have to buy the next Playstation console because I have a decent gaming PC that will most likely stand the test of next gen.

Hey, my PC is great too. But Sony exclusives are what I'm in it for. Particularly Gran Turismo. I've said that a lot but I'll say it again.

Okay this may be strange but hear me out. i have a wish list of games coming out this year but Im afraid to buy them. The issue is that with the new Ps4 we dont know anything but its been speculated that the PS4 will not be backwards compatible. i have a case of games that i feel like will be a waste of hard earned money if I purchase a PS4. Does anyone else have this running through their heads?SoonerSpirit80
Your situation is unique in that you haven't invested in a PS3, unlike others who are heavily invested.

Your solution is simply. If there's no backwards compatibility, the likelyhood that Sony will use Gakai to stream PS3 games to the PS4 is in my opinion HIGHLY likely. So if you're still down to play those games, I'm sure you'll be able to do so provided that you buy them digitally.

And I thought to myself, they GOTTA have a 3DS. So when I pulled out mine and didn't see that green light for streetpass, I got sad.

You guys ever see someone you figure HAD to have a 3DS but turns out they didn't?

But you really want it. Bad. How bad? Do you sell off your PS3 for it?

Or do you keep it around so you can still play PS3 games?

Now what if Sony offers their Gakai streaming service on the PS4 so that you can stream PS3 games?

Do you rebuy all the games you loved and come to accept that you can only play them when you have an internet connection?

Me, I'll just keep my PS3. Especially if the PS4 blocks used PS4 games, my money isn't going anywhere near that thing. Or PSN for that matter.

Sadly, I would still probably buy one eventually despite hating the hell out of the idea. I just can't see myself passing up on the next gen entirely when I got into gaming so much with this one. I can't see it happening, but I'm a little ashamed that I'd probably still buy one :(SoNin360
I'm sure there are still a fair amount of PS3 games you haven't played yet. Don't tell me you dont have a huge backlog. I'm sure you could keep busy for another few years if you wanted to you little trophy hunter, you.

The results of the poll sadden me.

Well I imagine if they ever did have the balls to block used games that they would be hit with a lawsuit from Gamefly for trying to create a monopoly with the games business by taking away consumer choice.Kravyn81
I'm sure Gamestop would join in. I wonder who the courts would sympathize with?

I think this whole issue has been blown out of proportion. It's just another topic to get people talking. The reality is neither Sony or MS are stupid enough to do this. To answer the question, though, no, I wouldn't buy one either. Which is perfectly fine with me since I'm very satisfied with my PS3 and there are so many games I still have yet to play on it.Kravyn81
Yeah I'm with you on that. There are plenty of games for the PS3. And of course this has got people talking. I suppose that's a good thing, so that both companies know not to ever do it- even if they were planning to do so this time around.

They could block used games, but it's kinda like.....U WONT DO IT DOE BRAH type of thing. And they won't.

^^^^^ Bro, just get the physical copy.

If anyone lives in the SF Bay Area, specifically around Fremont I have an extra copy I don't need.

I'm sure many of you have heard the RUMOR that the Xbox 720 will not allow users to operate used games.

If that rumor is true, do you think Sony will do the same with their PS4? If you didn't know, Sony recently filed a patent which could potentially bloc the use of used games.

Now ASSUMING Sony does actually block used games on the PS4, would you still buy it? If you would, why?

Also, please take the time to answer the poll. Thanks.

Me personally? I definitely wouldn't buy it. I'd probably keep my PS3 just for GT5. When GT6 came out I'd be tempted, but the fact is that I usually buy games used. I can't afford to constantly buy games brand new. Sure, I could wait for sales on new games in an attempt to save money. But I don't think the savings would compare to buying used games on sale.

For those of you who might make the argument against me that I'm not supporting developers, don't get me wrong here. Games that I really want to see sequels for, as well as games by independent and smaller developers, I'll easily drop 60 bucks for here and there. But I just can't afford to spend that kind of money all day long like that.

How do you all feel?
