@mellow09 Glad you don't work in their account department.. Say 100 PS4's for sale, you say that only 1/3 XB1'.. so 33. then you say that GS has 30% more PS4's than XB1's.. that makes 44 PS4's..

@Alecmrhand @ALCHEMISTx24x7 Windows like O/S to run apps (like Skype), Specifically created console O/S for the games and a third to act as the manager.

Makes a lot of sense if you wish to see a lot of apps (basically Windows Apps) written for your console.. but a big overhead on it's limited 8GB RAM. Hopefully they've learnt a lot from mobile devices and resource management to make it work as smoothly as they hope.

@shingui5 @sammoth @tretre32 I don't really understand your view on this - not buying the XB1 because it has the Kinect2. I have a 360 and would never think of buying a Kinect. Voice commands are hit and miss in my experience. The games look like trash (mostly), and why would I spend £HoweverMuch on a device that adds very little and mostly won't work due to the distance from the TV to where I sit.

So with the XB1 I was much more excited about the impulse triggers than the Kinect2 device. But then I started to think about it more deeply.

Am I worried about having an always on camera and mic.. I trust Microsoft enough that I believe what they say about the data not leaving your box (and I'll go through all settings thoroughly to make sure those options are selected). Of course, if this proves not to be the case, then they will have lost my trust.

I think with the new microphone array and wide-angle camera, the Kinect2 will probably be usable in my living room. The possible applications of the Kinect for developers is fantastic if it's guaranteed with every console.. They can really invest their time knowing that it won't only be used by 5% of the XB1 user base.

I think the features offered by the Kinect2 have matured and it will be a usable device. It has a lot of potential.

If MS offered an XB1 with and without a Kinect, which would I go for? That's a tricky question. If it was optional, it would end up like the first Kinect, poorly supported and probably best avoided, so I would probably not buy it. But, because it is included with every console, I think it has the potential to become an outstanding device. I think it will have novel uses in games as well and all the other uses outside of the games that I currently use my 360 for.

I have certainly changed my view on it.

@soolar79 @Random_Matt Since the console will need a day one online connection for a firmware update anyway, then anyone buying the system / games early on will have these sorts of requirements.. it's just going to happen.

Hopefully the publishers (and Microsoft themselves) will get this sorted out properly down the line and have the patches built into the product releases.

@Deano Since the Xbox One needs a one-time connection for a firmware update anyway.. then anyone with a console needs to have this option available (even if not on a daily basis).
