So they celebrate their day by enhancing the worst entry to the series. One might have hoped for an enhanced Mass Effect 1 even a remaster if they're short on ideas (which to be sure they are). Fact : Mass Effect minus Shepard equals not Mass Effect. I believe a similar equation can be made of the Halo series (kill Locke, his crew, and bring back splitscreen for gods sake). Shepard said it best when he said "We don't have time to deal with this idiot...charge!!!" That would sum up my thoughts on this nonsense,

I'll be the first one to say it. There needs to be at least 20 ways to kill him each with their own cinematic cutscene.

No mention at all of the glaring bumble of not putting the board games online to play the game with friends even though the minigames can be online (who wants to even bother with that). They dropped the ball on that one and you guys dropped the ball when you said nothing about it. A game most likely to be returned...6/10 at most

So nobody knows what this game is about...I mean we get it sort of. He wants high res actors in strange obscure environments who appear to be just as confused as we are. I guess we all have to remember that Kojima was essentially given a blank check from Sony to make this game...which to be sure he earned. Still though, a little background or something we still don't know anything about this game.

I think I would die of laughter if I find out that they are setting up a sequel to 3.

I believe the point of this release was for the fans of the series to make them remember how far ahead of its time it was and refresh before 3. I also smell a cash grab but I don't fault them. The dreamcast had no copy protection as it was only made to test the lucrativity of online play. So they got right screwed. In retort to the statement made about the combat mechanics I say look deeper. The outdated ai uses the same attacks until u defend them. Overall they do not compare to what's out 15 years later. But where the combat shines like all things with this game is Ryo. He starts off quite weak both of mind and body. But as you learn attacks he grows (wow really). Not only does he learn more but the attacks he knows become stronger as they are used. These attacks change in appearance as well. This sort of mechanic is rarely used even now because it is rarely done correctly. For a game 15 plus years old that is not impressive it is phenomenal. Not only in strength does Ryo grow but in mind. It is subtle but the level of confidence grows as he overcomes all that is placed before him. To the purist I refer to Ryo' s disposition in the first Chai fight in the arcade in comparison to his fight against Bailu near the end of the second. As a child playing these games I never noticed but now it comes front and center. This game is a masterpiece for Ryo and him alone.

Ghost is a reskin of a hunter class in Destiny made all white. Sorry but it is. Swing and a miss marvel.

This is all that Rare has made in near 15 years. Took them years to make delays and what have you. For this? You get to be a pirate in a vast empty world with no NPCs outside of islands and do all of 3 things?! Like 3 enemy classes to fight and they all look the bloody same? This was the collective of their creative juices there? What a joke. Here's a freebie for them. AC: Black Flag had it right. You take prizes on the seas to increase your renown. When renown is increased stronger ships try and take you down. All the while you collect resourses for your ship to upgrade it and your cove (hideout). That would work for Sea of Theives except there are no computer ships at sea to take, there is no way to upgrade your ships and even if you could your ship isn't really your own neither is your cove in this game so it wouldn't matter. If you pop in an area with a renown human pirate and take him down...extra gold and resources! Add that into the mix at least there would be something entertaining to do out on the seas. I was really excited for this game. They didn't show much which got me worried but I trusted the name. Rare made some of the best games I have ever played. But they just add to the ever growing list of devs who have forgotten who they are and what got them there.

I for one miss Joel. The last game was better at points when it was him in the driver seat. Call me a sexist I dare ya. I just got finished with Tomb Raider now that's a game with a REAL female lead. This really seems to just be ripping them off HARD (even the gameplay trailers were the same...). That said the first one is a solid 10/10 game and N.D tends not to make garbage. I will say this though, in the first game they weren't pushing an agenda. They need to see that this one does not either.
