@Abomination713: Well, the main goal of Republicans is for there to be less government in your life. And that is the root of this repeal. I for one agree that there should be less government involved in the everyday lives of the citizens. Their hearts are in the right place in my eyes, but the main problem is that as of right now there's nothing in place to strike that balance between government staying out of it's citizens' lives and protecting the citizens from companies acting like predators and abusing their power for self/special interests. So I'm torn on this decision.
As a compromise, I would accept data caps be banned as a thing and consumers can't be charged by the GB. Only access to the internet.
This whole thing is just a mess all around from every angle from both sides.
I hate government regulations as much as the next guy, but this is one of those things that has the potential to let companies get away with screwing over the consumer and some business owners even more. It would be different if the US had a ton of choices of ISPs, but we don't because the telecoms have such control over government regulations that it smells of antitrust and anticompetitive tactics. It'll have to be a wait and see approach at this point.
There may be other things in the works that will actually help and yet be fair to businesses. Not holding my breath though.
The thing that should have been regulated in the first place was data caps. How can a company be allowed to treat an intangible thing like data that is infinite in supply be treated like a commodity like fuel or water even? There will never be a shortage of data. Ever. So don't treat it like there's a finite supply of data.
And the EA boycott continues. I haven't purposely bought an EA game, other than Mass Effect 1 & 2, in over 10 years. Those are the only EA games I own and will ever own.
@darthrevenx: What do you consider the "right" way? You do realize that there are thousands of "right ways" to doing this and that your "right way" could be considered the wrong way by thousands of others. Just let people tell their stories. Jeez... getting all worked up over superhero movies...
