That was pretty funny, iPhones turned into DS but i guess the bigger screens would be pretty nice xD
Anyway i dont think they will come out with another new DS soon, it would only be when the sales are dropping significantly when they will try to introduce a new DS to ignite the sales again.
And when they do, it will probably be a mini one, like how GameboyMicro came out,

Maybe they are more of those games that do not really have an aim/story but just plain fun. People tend to lean towards games that involve a storyline(beating the game to find out the story), or one that has good replay value (Mario Kart?) or games that includes multiplayer competition (Mario Kart? Pokemon?).
Metriod Pinball is still a nice game though =)

Zelda games have mainly been figuring out the puzzle, whether it's a boss fight or a dungeon puzzle, it has always been that way. Once you've understand the idea of the puzzle, solving it should be pretty simple.
The "No Level Up" system is also there to emphasize on solving the puzzle/way to beat the boss instead of outlevelling and bashing it into dust.

Phantom Hourglass is really quite a nice game, it has nice graphics, decent sound(though it might be repetitive to some), and i like the controls which is intuitive and makes good use of the DS's functionsbut the puzzles might have been a bit too simple for some.
But i can understand why the puzzles aint made harder, it is probably restricted with the controls of the DS or the game.
The limited storage space on the DS cart also meant smaller world if they wanna make it with better quality graphics, that's probably why they make us go through the Temple over and over again. This saves spacethat is neededformaking another island/dungeon.

Perhaps everyone is expecting more when we see Zelda in the game title, and thus all the "it's not good enough" opinions.
But i feel it's quite a good game, and should probably be one of the best DS games now.

The way the game is packaged and presented is kiddish, that is the reason why most people have this false sense that the game is childish and stuff. And i believe the reason to this outlook is due to the company aiming to bring the RPG genre to younger gamers.

But anyone who tries to be competetive in Pokemon will realise that it's not as simple as "Pikachu, use Thunder!" or stuff like that.

You have to assemble a balanced team that is capable of handling most threats and not having too much common weakness, your team should have some strategy composed in it, your movesets should also incoporate some sort of strategy. Then you as the player will need to have a strategic mind when fighting, people aint gonna let you fry their pokemon when u have an obvious advantage.
Will he switch? Should i use an attack that will be super effective against what he might switch in? Should i set up a self buff? Should i switch out as well? Maybe he might not switch?

And once people realise this, they'll realise that Pokemon is a real wicked mind game wrapped with cute colorful ribbons.

But maybe the only games your friends know are First Person Shooters, Arcade Fighters, Sports related games, then i can understand why they mock at you. Cause most RPG players should know Pokemon well =/

Both Pokemon and Zelda are great games.
Diamond/Pearl is the best Pokemon till now with the improved graphics (though it might be slight), Wifi and Wireless capabilities also go great with the way the game is played, since with those u can trade and battle across the globe with forums/messageboard helps. So the game actually gets quite a lot of replay value in terms of the trading, battling, trying out the endless combinations for your team of 6 and moveset.
Zelda gives the best graphics for the DS now i think, nice story, good puzzles, dungeons, boss fights, all thegood oldZelda stuff are in it. The Windwaker was my first Zelda game and i must say the Zelda genre is a great one, and that includes this one.
The controls are nice and intuitive as well, but it kinda lacks in replay value.

PhoenixWright series is great too, i really love cracking the cases in the game, but since ithas got zero replay value, it might be those games that are always on 2nd choice. I would pick it after u get either Pokemon and/or Zelda if i were you.

Then if u are willing to wait for a bit, AdvanceWars: Days of Ruin, FinalFantasy Tactics A2, FinalFantasyIV are coming out. And PhoenixWright4 will be soon too, though it wont be called PhoenixWright this time xD

What kind of game do you actually like? And do you have friends nearby who own a DS as well?
Mario Party DS is just plain fun with friends, Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings is a nice RTS, Final Fantasy III for a good RPG Remake.
Phoenix Wrightseries fora brain cracking detective game, Advance Wars: Days of Ruin,Final Fantasy IV and Final Fantasy Tactics A2 coming up this year are great games as well.

I would keep my old DS if i were to buy a DS Lite. It would be a nice piece of history to keep and it might come in handy if i break or lose my DS Lite somehow.
It kinda reminds me of how i sold my old Gameboy [No color] years ago when the GameboyColor came out, really regret it, i would have love to see it around now and i would have all the Nintendo Handhelds if i still had it.
