i am well over 300 hours but the optional stuff that they put into the game makes it totally worth it. haven't played any other FF game that much. the money on this was definitely well spent.
you could just give it another try. i honestly can't remember that much of FFVIII even though it has been only one and a half year since i have played it the last time.
i left off on disc 3 and couldn't get back into it for some reason up until now.
it is IMO no way near as good as FFIX (even though most will disagree) since FFIX was far more memorable in every aspect.

And I disagree with this part. Are you saying there are literally millions of people who would turn down a console for $200 that has most of the games they like (including GTA4 and your favorite sports games) simply to wait and wait for a $300 PS3? Do we have petitions or prebuys to support this? no we don't and therefore it is nothing more than a prediction of mine. i just think that it is something psychological, the 300$ barrier. there are probably millions who want to buy a ps3 but didn't because it's to expensive but i think they will if the price drops to 299 for example even though the 360 will be still cheaper. it won't have that much of an effect in NA since its basically 360 land but here in europe it is another story.
it would be refreshing to hear people talk about the awesome gameplay instead of how great it will look like.
the only thing that went for crysis are its visuals since the gameplay was that of a generic shooter IMO.
i'd rather have a crysis 2 that is genre defining in terms of gameplay rather than graphics.

wow really? when i think of a generic shooter i think walking down a corridor and a bunch of enemies run at you. this game had enemies doing their own independent actions, and you could approach them however you want you could sneak past pretty much all combat situations, or you could rambo style it, or be more tactical taking out an enemy at a time with a silencer. this game as far a an fps game goes was very varied in the gameplay department. that's how i saw it anyway. as for crysis 2 whether it will be gimped or not is yet to be seen, i think it would have been much better being pc exclusive, but as long as they make it atleast as good as crysis i don't care. good point, i guess generic wasn't the right word for what i meant to say. maybe i just couldn't get into it. it's not a bad game by all means but as far as i've played, the gameplay was nothing groundbreaking. well that of course is just the way i see it but it's great to see you enjoyed it since crytek started off just a few miles from my home :)
no, the ps3 is doing fine. it already sold more than xbox, gamecube or dreamcast during last generation and it's not like the sales are going through the floor like they those of the dreamcast did after the ps2 launched.
sure sony is losing money right now but considering the consoles predicted lifespan, it's safe to say that the components and the technology will be cheap enough to manufacture that they will make a profit over the course of the next few years.
i guess if sony reduces the price (which will happen sooner or later) and it drops under 300, ps3 sales will take a huge upturn.
at the end of the day, i guess there's no way that sony won't make another console after this, even if they loose that much money.

i wouldn't agree on the last part. N64 and GC were last place but they came up with the wii and it made them 1st place.
