The people at valve, they are not stupid, the RND for this and the entire play they are making at the moment must of been years in the making. Valve do a load of development and research.

They wouldn't release this as a product if they weren't sincerely confident of it's potential. It wouldn't be worth the bad press and the smear to a perfect reputation.
And understand another 3rd party in the console wars, is a good thing. Options are good things.

This entire subject is just gamespot trying to polish their public image. No one wants to run a site with the trolls and the hate speak. What gamespot is saying is they want to limit their exposure to some of the more rambunctuous of us. But at the end of the day gamespot, if you censor and alienate this next wave of angry teens - and when those teens grow old. will they want to go back to a website that essentially censored their expression?

Yeah but that attack is generally an opinion that is either strongly agree or strongly disagree. And sure it'll generally manifest into vile comments, but you just have to look past it, get over yourself, realise its just words on a page, and either be entertained or just ignore it.

I'm sorry if the pixels on the screen where my message is makes me sound angry, I'm not. I just believe everyone is allowed there say inappropriate or not, are you the language police? is anyone here claiming to be the language police?

What do you think is suddenly going to happen, some kind of flowery utopia where everyone starts talking to each other courteously? No there will be just less comments on the articles because 60% of them will be deemed inappropriate by some overly sensitive man child admin.

Maybe the comments should be split into ones for those "sensitive readers" and another second for readers like myself that don't care what gets said they just want a good read and enjoy some arguments and name calling!

I enjoy reading the rude comments, I enjoy reading the arguments, I don't think there's anything wrong with cussing at each other online. There seems to be some user insurgence of whiny cry babies online that can't handle a bit of banter or spiteful comments!

It's the internet, strap on a helmet and start shooting.

If I wan't some kind of serious discussion I'll read kotaku. It's like you can tell Kevin Van Ord n all them just wanna sit about and write essay just like the kotaku guys do but they can't because they are a slave to the immaturity of the readership.

Embrace the people you have on your website, don't start telling them to behave themselves for hostile comments.

As long as the micro transactions are cosmetic and add ons in the future I see no problem.
