The more and more Microsoft and PS4 try and market their consoles as multi use living room entertainment hubs the more they incentivise form factor PCs to take a stab at the market.
The consoles are literally just PCs in stylish boxes, limited and streamlined for controller use.
If valve nail form factor PCs that are vastly more powerful, has a better OS. Which can't be hard since Xbox OS is windows 8. Then also gives you the entieity of the steam library, and all futue amazing deals, and on top of that a decent controller and just more options in general..
Then why the **** would I buy either console? You don't see valve charging for their online steam service. They do on both platforms.
Atleast with valve the feeling of getting fuckedd over by money grubbing corporate cunts is reduced significantly.
Atleast if both consoles folded there Wouldnt be any platform exclusives too, instead we'd all be playing them on our steam boxes!
I have disposable income, a steam box maybe expensive but the saving you make on software prices alone will recoup that loss in two years Max.
People using consoles at this point to me are either filthy casuals, or enthusiasts that are too stupid to realise they are getting milked, and too stupid to realise they can have a much better machine in a form factor PC or steambox that can serve as your console now, with better options and a two decade + library of games.
BioShock should of stopped being a first person shooter and try something else, if they want to go whole hogg on a decent story, why convolute it with first person shooter mechanics.
Infinite had the same problem, I would enjoy the story, then give out a long sigh as the story gets interrupted by some pretty standard shooting bits to fill the time between the next piece of story.
It's a shame seeing as though Ken Levine is kind of looked on as some sort of pioneer in the industry. Yet at the same time he is shackled to mechanics that detract from his game, too scared of the possible fallout that would happen if he removed the first person gun play.
