You locked a thread that was not directly pointed towards a "game" as said it was about Gamespots' reviewing process of a franchise in general, and their overall reviewing process as of lately. Apparently thoroughly reading and individual understanding isn't a requirement for being a "mod" on the Gamespots forum. Go ahead, "ban" me and lock this thread, as predicted. You should work for clear channel and not a video game forum, last time I checked video games were a part of a ART, isn't art a part of expressing yourself? Instead, you censor, you're a sell out.

Is it me or am I the only one noticing Gamespots' very easy going love for the grand theft auto series? Now don't directly quote me because after all they did give one of the PSP titles a 8.6 instead of the normal 10 or 9.5. There is no debate that GTA4 and the majority of its predecessors are great games, but in all honesty 75% of the time i've played these games ( yes all the way to the end ) the gameplay (after the first 6 hours or so) seems rather monotonous after awhile, unless you enjoy being blessed with the occasional "different" car or weapon. I enjoyed GTA4 for the most part, hell I was even there for the midnight release. But Gamespots' beloved ( "FLAWLESS" 10 ) award seems a little far fetched, as well goes with the DS' new title "Chinatown Wars". When I come to think of the term 9.5 or above I think a instant classic, a LEGEND of a title........but if we all remember when GTA4 came out....remember all the flaws and things that needed to be patched up? Not to mention the horridly sometimes awkward online play, after mindlessly running around shooting everyone and smashing a helicopter into a group of people, everything got old pretty quick. Now some will argue "it's about re-playability" my question to you is whats so re-playable about stealing some car in some location over and over again, or killing some guy in some location over and over again. It seems they almost just through a bunch of mindless side missions to give the game some long lasting appeal, in my eyes, it doesn't cut it...and infact I feel cheated by Rockstar for even thinking that this would entertain me. I can't help but think the person reviewing this game is a complete fanboy of the series regardless of the reviewer being "fair and equal" when it comes time to review. Or maybe Gamespot is being paid to show "over" appreciation to this title.... I would not put this past them seeing after what happened to ************* after he reviewed "Kayne And Lynch: Dead Men" and what happened to him after his overly honest review. What happened to my beloved Gamespot? I've been viewing this site ( not logged in , really ) since the days of Videogames.Com , since the PSX days before PS2 was out , I think we are going back to like 1997ish? I'm not asking for a miracle, just honest reviews. For the record my personal score of GTA4 would be a loose 8.5, and that's after patch release. And for the GTA DS release I would give it a 7.5 , sorry fanboys I wasn't too impressed and why should I say "oh its just the DS, it doesn't hold much power" that's no excuse for a game to have more monotonous gameplay once again and a so-so storyline , I could go on for a full review, but I don't want to take up too much of whoever was foolish enough to read through this so far. It seems i've begun rambling and lost track of what I was really getting down to , but with that said I'd love to hear some of your feedback, and if Gamespot "ban's" me for voicing my opinion , i'll be pretty disappointed in their "sportsmen ship" and that they couldn't even argue a valid point with me that's not just "copy and pasted" from some other users previous complaints about their review system. Grand Theft Auto III (PC) Review Score: 9.3 Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars (DS) Review Score: 9.5 Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (PS2) Review Score: 9.6 Grand Theft Auto IV (X360) Review Score: 10 Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (PS2) Review Score: 9.6 Grand Theft Auto III (PS2) Review Score: 9.6 Grand Theft Auto Double Pack (XBOX) Review Score: 9.6 (what is so great about re-packaging a game with slightly improved graphics that it deserves a 9.6?) Let the e-hate rain now mtv loving nerdboys

I'm sorry but the e-hate is only going to come from a different board. Please take your complaints about a video game website's ratings to the general games discussion.

*points towards exit*

bigfatcrap
Notice it's pointed towards gamespot and their reviewing process, so why would it be in the general games discussion unless I was solely discussing the over all review of just GTA.

Maybe because the games are that good.

if you enjoy the simplicity of repetition after the intentional excitement is already gone , sometimes repetition is a sign dependency , are you co-dependent? haha

I know not all high rated games released recently are like that but I'm noticing some sort of trend in games. Take for instance, deadspace, fallout and crysis. They all contain so much violence and most of the times it's just mindless killing without much substance.

Not only that but there's also the depressive background of those games. It's always a lonely person walking around in a hopeless and empty world trying to survive or kill. In fallout, you walk around in a depressive world in ruins shooting people and zombies and exploding their heads.

In Crysis you're kinda all alone in an island full of enemies and you just run around mindlessly shooting koreans and monsters.

And deadspace...lol...the name speaks for itself.

And the list goes on and on.

But my biggest beef with all these games is that there's too much unnecessary violence without substance. What happened to the games that used to touch the deepest part of ourselves, that used to enlighten our minds in the most uplifting ways and teach us how to be a little better as a human being? Doesnt the world have too much violence and depression already? Isn't the point of gaming as a hobby to have our little entertaining escape from this world? If there's so much violence and sadness in games how are we escaping from the world?

I don't mind a little violence in games as long as the violence isn't just for the sake of violence, but due to something much more meaningful and edifying...

Sorry for the rant...Im just a little frustrated and sad for personal reasons right now. Thanks for reading.

I hope nobody replies with: "just don't play the game" or "don't game go read books" (i do that already) or "be quiet sissy" or "you don't like it but we like it".

I'm sure a lot of girls are of this same opinion. Maybe if game developers took these complaints to heart and adapt as needed, more girls would be willing to play their games?

play a RPG, or don't buy games called "deadspace" if you think it's going to be about a romantic novelty.
