@Kevin-V: wasn't trying to be offensive, sorry if my words came out a bit harsh. But it's true, that's simply the point. We get anxious. It just feels like it never used to be like that here and at IGN, so it's becoming a new and constant thing, and people get anxious because they want to know highly experienced critics' opinions by launch, and that's just it. It happens with pretty much every single game that releases now, so when we want to hear the reviewer's opinions (which I heavily consider before paying 65 bucks for a game), it feels like we're waitin' around and can't help but wonder what the real reason is behind the slower reviews.

I'm not angry towards anyone here, just want some reviews to see if this is worth it. If my anxiousness came across as hate, then I'm sorry man. Thanks for your opinions over all this time though. I always enjoy em, no matter when they arrive :p

@Paoksis: agreed. It's not like they aren't getting review compiles enough in advance, with the exception of Doom of course. Over 90% of games distribute review copies for major gaming websites, so there really isn't an excuse for the whole "in progress" thing.

But hey, guess they wanna take their time. More power to em, even if we dislike it.

And great to see ya, Kevin. Looking forward to your final opinion.

@scottyp360: yeah, absolutely. When that framerate gets in tip top shape, I think a lot more people will find enjoyment out of it. And I know what you mean about that backlog... So many games this year and so little time. Honestly, when no mans sky releases next month, I'll pretty much be putting down what I'm currently playing to dive straight into that.. The game looks phenomenal and unlike anything I've ever seen. I'm gonna spend so many hours, haha.

@scottyp360: so just some updated thoughts after around 5 hours of gameplay. The game's quite solid as I thought it'd be with a couple reservations.

For the good stuff, the combat is fun, the world is detailed and quite well developed, the side missions and other content are addictive, and I'm actually enjoying the co-op!

The bad-- they definitely must fix the frame rate. It's unfortunate that it's truly impossible to ignore. The story so far seems pretty eh, which I can get past. But honestly guys. I like the game, but the framerate's gotta be fixed, there's no getting around it.

Overall I'm liking the concept of it and the gameplay aspects of things, but I don't know how on earth deep silver managed to release this in the technical state it's in, even after the day one patch. Devs, please help!

I don't know you guys, I'm sorry, but I just don't think there's any way that the game can be this "God-awful" or "atrocious" as some of you have said, especially if some really enjoyed the first one. The gameplay looks very similar, the visuals aren't incredible but CERTAINLY not awful, and it looks like they have a really well designed open world with a lot of content. I'll be getting the game; as I enjoyed the first one, especially if they're even slightly comparing the gameplay to that of Far Cry. Those of you who "played it for 5 minutes and never touched it again" didn't play it enough. Sorry, five minutes can't make any opinion valid, just seems like some of you just want to fit in.

Happy gaming! I'm sure I'll be having a decent time with this one while everyone claims they hate it.

The negatives of this review seem a little too subjective. I'm not one of those crazy "IT GOT AN 8 AND NOT A 9??! BULL****!!!" persons, but 6 is a bit of a harsh score. For instance, I don't see why the controls and gameplay were sloppy? Tons of games have similar combat and different controls, once you play the game for a whole 15 minutes the controls should seem perfectly playable to you.

The whole "player choice" thing I agree with however. It was fairly weak, when you have rich story driven games like most TellTale games, Fallout 4, etc etc, the choices in this game seem to make little, if at all, impact. Good point and necessary critique to put out there.

And then the platforming sequences-- I thought they were fine and broke up the pace nicely. To be quite honest, platforming has a LOT of similar mechanics, no matter what the game. Sure, you'll come across the occasional innovative mechanics as seen in Rayman, but think about it: They use the same core design. Every last one of them. This isn't a platforming game, it had platforming sequences to break up the pace a little, and that's just about it. Critiquing a game based on a viewpoint of an entirely different genre doesn't seem quite fair.

Overall, I have to say Peter, your review was perhaps a tad on the harsh side. 6 is a pretty mediocre score-- and I can whole heartedly say that this game has innovative and impressive content, and fun as hell gameplay to go right along with it. I've enjoyed Remedy's style over the years. This isn't just some other rip-off third person shooter. It feels and looks like something special. I'm thinkin' a solid 8.

Love and respect ya'll as always. Peace.

Finally, an honest and deserving review of a Dark Souls game. Like I've always said about the series: Good not great.
