I'm playing Thief on PS4 at the moment, and I'm loving it.

Sure, it's a bit unpolished but the stealth gameplay is as good as I was hoping for, and if you want a real challenge that will force you to think through every move then just change the difficulty settings. Really, it's as hard or as easy as you'd like it to be.

As for the bad, the AI is a little rough around the edges at times, I've seen a handful of graphical glitches, the interlocking not-so-open world is rubbish and the map needs a serious re-think, but even so I'm enjoying myself thanks to some occasionally-surprising level design and the excellent sneaking mechanic that makes pulling off a tough steal pretty satisfying.

If you're a hardcore Thief fan, you should probably give it a miss as this reboot doesn't really capture the essence of the old games. If you're not, though, I say give it a go.

If id thought the game was shit, it must have been super-uber-OTT-shit. Glad they're re-doing it.

Good review, Daniel. Buyer beware, indeed.

My take: get it if you've got a hankering for some 90s FPS action with a 2013 paint job, but don't get it if you're looking for anything that resembles a modern-day shooter.

@209jonathan I finished it on Normal and quite liked the balance ND struck between difficulty and challenge. How is Hard better? Are resources more scarce, are enemies harder to kill?

@Darkefka Don't hesitate - buy the game. Seriously, it's brilliant. I also hate shooters for the most part, but I loved TLoU. There's a very good balance between sneaking, shooting and exploring, and the story and characters are just so well done.

Now if only I believed EA will actually take the answers to these questions seriously.
