@gamerbum: I don't really agree with you. While I think Splatoon 2 was a bit of a dud, Mario Kart 8 is really great, especially if you don't have a Wii U.
Also having the GotY on your platform is a pretty good sales pitch.
I'm also looking forward to Mario Odyssey and Metroid Prime 4, as you mention, but I'm also looking forward to the handheld franchises coming over which, increasingly, they are. We've been promised a Pokemon RPG, for starters. Imagine Pokemon with the graphics and open endedness of BotW. Hoooly shit I want that so bad. I really hope they make a great game!
@deviltaz35: Not gonna lie, the UWP platform is garbage. Not only because it's prone to crashes, but also because it, too, stunts modding. I hope developers steer clear of it and, if Microsoft forces it over our heads, that we switch to Linux and enjoy the glorious light of GabeN. :p
@Tanares: As someone else already said, WoD got an 8.0. But yes, it was too high.
The thing about WoD is it actually started out kind-of okay. But it just got worse and worse as the expansion progressed, until it was unplayably bad and had no content.
I think giving 8.0 for patch 6.0 is fair. It's he 6.1 and 6.2 that were awful. WoD had an unbelievable amount of cut content and patch content. So far, 7.1 looks nothing like 6.1 did. It's got a new raid, 3 new dungeons (revamped Karazhan), and huge amounts of questing and solo content.
@BlackOmegaTM If you played the beta and only got to level 10, then I don't know what you were doing to be honest. WIth the in-game interface, you could immediately create level 90 and level 100 characters for testing purposes. Furthermore, when you buy Warlords of Draenor, you can immediately boost any one character to level 90 0to get started levelling in Draenor right away.
@Dannystaples14 In a lot of cases the game looking better actually does add something to it. For example, a better looking Skyrim is a better Skyrim because Skyrim is about a beautiful looking world to explore at its heart. While it's possible to make a beautiful game that sucks, graphics often do assist in making the game better as well. If you have two versions with the same gameplay, who wouldn't prefer the prettier and cheaper version?
While it's true that there's a lot of crap on the PC, a site like GameSpot is exactly where you need to go to find out what's crap and what isn't, so frankly I don't see your point.
I don't like people who make emulators for new games and start pirating things, but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about me downloading PCSX2, inserting Okami into my DVD drive, and playing it. You can do that. The PS3 can't do that. Just because you can use it to perform piracy doesn't mean you must or should. ;) Also, all the games we play on those emulators have pretty much gone off sale. There is no reason to not use a platform just because others use it for bad. Btw, piracy on consoles is just as bad. Just sayin'.
DOOM was never designed with a mouse in mind. Play it without a mouse. >_> You can play DOOM with a mouse, but you gotta hack it a bit, yeah. Although what would you prefer? Being able to, but not forced to, make changes to your game to tailor it to your needs - or not being able to make it work at all?
All of Crytek's games have always been all graphics and no gameplay. Every single Crysis game is a simple shooter with a tiny gimmick layered on top, and it usually isn't executed that well. Every time they have made a great game, it's because an advancement in technology has allowed them to do something previously unheard of, in the genre, like hiding in the grass in Far Cry or the immense open world levels of it and Crysis.
Their game designers are monkeys. Always were. This comes as no surprise to me.
