I'm really digging this. I've always thought esports were interesting but just couldn't get into it. But this "league" approach is actually working for me. I love watching non-e sports and all it took was a few similarities to get me into it.
Just watched Bright and I can see why it has such hardcore fans (as displayed by this forum) and why there's a sequel coming, but it's not because the movie is actually good. It's because, in a very short amount of time, they created a really cool universe with tons of history. It seems to have really captured a lot of peoples imaginations, which isn't easy, and the effects and design work were amazing IMO.
But the movie as a whole was not particularly good. A lot of character development was left out and the last 40 minutes or so were really clunky. Personally I thought the acting was good all around but Edgerton's ork character was really unlikable, which is a writing issue, not acting. Was his whole deal that he's kind of terrible at being a cop?
I think this would have made an excellent anime or comic series, or even a live action series if they had the budget for it. I say it's a 7/10 (maybe 6 because that last action scene really let me down).
Loved the original and it sounds like the switch version is worth replaying. But did they fix the horrible A.I. Driving? People did not know how to drive back then.
