@climhazard5: In the US, you will be able to get it through MS, Amazon, Walmart, GameStop.. maybe more places. But it's not live yet.

@thelostscribe: Just wait for the PS5 comparison ;) That thing is gonna be enormous. But yea, if I get one (leaning towards the S now after all the reveals), it will definitely be vertical on a desk.

@rekonym: That's like complaining that the newest iPhone or Galaxy doesn't look like your razr flip phone. Times change, demands change. I think the One X and One S are still some of the best designs ever. I don't think fondly back on the OG Xbox or PS3, despite them "looking like consoles" and I have hardly any nostalgia for the shape-profile of the N64 or Dreamcast (despite liking them). You're also free to have your opinions, of course, but just recognize that many, many people - including me - like the designs. (Same with the PS5).

@phili878: Sure. Read other previews that talk about the things they found to do in that open world and how densely packed it was when you looked a little deeper than surface level. That's the inherent risk of previewing any part of the game that isn't linear, right? People have different experiences? And yet, we hear pretty positive things about the open world experience in this preview still. Bodes well that even the light openness that Gamespot got to see was engaging enough for the hours they played, don't you think?

@jsprunk: Oddly aggressive correction.. Gears of War has always been COLLOQUIALLY abbreviated as Gears. The *franchise* is still Gears of War, but the individual games are now simplified according to how people who play the games refer to them anyway: Gears 5, Gears Tactics, Gears POP. Seems fine to me. Not a lot of people were calling it "Gears of War 3" in conversation anyway.

@BigPrimeNumbers: Yea, totally! I like that she spent a lot of time with him for this story. And, I love that so much of this story is about what happens outside of the formal interviews. I would have loved a kind of fly on the wall perspective of Iwata or even Reggie at work. It's really sad that some of this stuff can no longer be experienced and recorded naturally. I can only pray for something like this for Kojima one day lol. I have hope that NoClip might be an avenue for getting this kind of stuff in the future, but even they're usually pretty interview-centric.

@deviltaz35: Er. I think you may fundamentally misunderstand how reality works. I mean you're not wrong that many devs, particularly Japanese devs, are skipping enhancements. But that's not really Microsoft's fault. If Xbox had released One X the year after the One launched.. we would have gotten nothing better. Remember what one year of difference looks like - PS4 Pro vs One X. I know which I prefer.

It's also absolutely not Phil or Xbox's place to tell developers what they need to spend their precious resources on. Indie devs SHOULD NOT spend their budget on making high res versions of their games for the percentage of people who own enhanced consoles. They should focus on making a great game. If it does well, then they can look at enhancing them later (which has happened for some studios). You'll notice that many Japanese devs don't support PS4 Pro enhancements either. This is just the messy reality of game dev. It's not a problem with MS and it may not even be a problem with devs. Some priorities are more important than others.
