If you're new to Mega Man, I'd skip the Zero games all together until you play some of the others and understand how the games work/how to play them. The Zero games aren't for beginners.

I agree here, I haven't played the Zero games in a few years and whenever I try to play through them again I always suck.
But Zero 4 is the first Mega Man Zero game to have an easy mode. It makes the game too easy for me, but as a beginner, it could be a big help to some. If you're looking for the best game in the series overall, I'd say Mega Man Zero 3 is the best out of all of them.
