@mwa3 : Well I'm thinking -1 point for useless multiplayer and maybe -0.5 for kinda predictable, not over the edge story...that would make a 8.5 great game.
I`ll be honest, I'm not a big fan of the franchise and I had no big expectations for the game, especially when they announced the multiplayer, but I see lots of things in the review that I`ll like.
Don't dare to pull an Aliens CM move. I can look past the Halo/CoD (I don't play CoD so I'm not sure) regenerating shields instead of med kits, but I'm looking forward to exploring an immersive world and a decent story as they advertised. That's why I`m looking forward to this game so much.
The name is fitting, just another game crying at the audience while being overshadowed by better games like Batman Arkham games, Sleeping Dogs and some older Ass.Creed games. As other said, the ideea of people turning into mutants cuz they suffered an overdose of memory is kinda ridiculous, but whatever...it's a video game. It could'`ve been overlooked easly if the combat was better.
The ideea of writing your own combos is interesting, but it makes the combat slow (pressing combinations of X-Y-X-Y-X doesn't seem to make the combat that fluid). And it looks and sounds more like the character is slapping the enemies, not punching/kicking them. Also are players that stupid that you had to put arrows on each ledge to show them where to go?!
Halo 1 came on PC cuz it was the first in the series and it was just a test run, just as Gears of War 1 was. Halo 2 came on PC after that just as a way to promote Windows Vista. After that, after the fanbase was settled, Halo (and GoW) became Xbox 360's exclusive titles and what made the console's sales. Just as God of War is for Playstation. Personally I don't see why Microsoft would do this now, it wouldn't make them too much money to justify a port and the multiplayer might be dead by now since it's an older game in the franchise.
Oh and KOF XIII on PC...lol when's the last time any KOF came on PC?!
As I see it, if Valve accepts reselling "used" games, Steam might turn into something like Diablo 3's real money auction house. The only way to resell a steam game is to another steam user, so Valve will have to charge a percentage off each transaction cuz you are using their platform afterall. In the end, the consumers will earn some money, a cut of it will go to Valve and the rest will go into their steam user account to buy later a new game. But the problem I see with this is that those who make the games will not earn anything except from the selling of their games in the first week or so. After that people will just resell. This will not encourage the use of digital distribution since the profit will be less significant than selling the disc with the game.
Anyway this is a sensitive matter and I guess that's why Valve didn't took any action or response yet.
