I was tempted a while back to go for their exclusive HD edition of King Kong cause I love the movie & the demo of the game, so I got the normal retail version of it with a $10 discount from UbiSoft. The graphics are very console like & not up to much.

Has anyone noticed any difference with exclusive games from them that claim to be HD & can you back them up to DVD?

Can you use regular patches on their games & do Trainers work on them? (theres some games once I played them over & over & over, etc; I like to try them out & muck about with them for a bit of fun.

You should download the patch if your CPU is AMD: http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_871_13118,00.html

Otherwise turn off antivirus & don't play the game with textures & most of the other graphic settings higher than Medium. You could also try tweaking the game byt trying this guide: http://www.tweakfactor.com/articles/tweaks/codtweak/

I hope your hard disk isn't IDE, because SATA is much better for gaming now :)

I play CS: Source as my main online game & why I like it so much is because theres no subscribtion to pay. Its very easy to play, but its sometimes hard to find the right server & it took me a year to settle down to my fav 2.

Although I play about 4 nights a week - mainly because I'm in a clan called WTE - the servers with HLStats points are most addictive & trying to get to the top spot is lots of fun. Its not boring or predictable since most people think that about FPS, theres lots of maps for CS:S & thousands of ways to play it.

I know you get idiots that like shooting your own teammates but that rarely happens on our servers or Fubars - we all like to have a laugh (you'll need a headset to experience it properly) and being part of an online community where people know; either by playing regularly or being very good at it they'll remember you, but its never anything serious, just a bit of fun.

Thats my experience from playing on my fav game & servers, but I would like to hear other peoples experience with CS:S & other servers, then maybe we can meet up for a game sometime :)

I subscribe to PCGamer (DVD edition) so if you don't have a fast connection for downloading gigs of demo & mods, it saves you time & hassle but its sometimes a month late in getting onto the disc.

Try PC Format, or just go to your local newsagents & skim through the mags on sale there to see whats best :)

I've recently replayed HL1 & HL2 & the load times are obviously much better in HL1 because I bearly notice it. But on HL2, it takes just over 20+secs to load the next bit of the level. Before I upgraded to a SATA RAID 0 setup, it took 50secs  so I was glad with the improvement but felt it could have been done better.

Its mostly because HL2 is using alot of detailed textures, so try turning it down to get the right balance (if anyone has played Dark Messiah, they'll know thats even MORE demanding & very laggy on most PCs unless your PCs worth $3000+).

But I felt Valve planned too far ahead, making the game struggle on most PCs at the time it came out, so its only now that hardware is catching up. HL2: Episode 2 is optimised to be used on quad core CPU, anyone lucky enough to own one will been laughing at the performance & increased visuals.

You can't win, because your options are to:
  1. turn your settings down, including audio quality
  2. spend $3000 on a new PC or upgrade your existing PC within moderation
  3. don't buy the game - which is why I can't play the excellent  Supreme Commander :(

I like the map because of all the different routes you can take. The HDR looks great on my nVidia GeForce6800Ultra 256mb and the performance is about 80fps on max settings. Some people have complained on servers - if they are about to switch to that map - because their PC won't be able to handle it. They must have crappy GPU's.

Has anyone noticed on this map that there are red artifacts (mainly on the rocks) and looks odd? I've played a few other HDR maps and havent had this problem. Might be a problem with the map or my Forceware v81.98 drivers.

Lots of people have also complained (me included) about our missing Favourite & History lists in CS: Source since the recent update. You can access your lists via Steam by clicking on Servers but NOT within CS: Source. Not the best way to go about gaming but at least I didn't lose all my Favourite servers. Anyone else had similar issues?
