There is no serious opposition, but that's because Obama is basically just a Neoconservative. Taking him to task for the awful shit in his presidency would expose the GOP to criticism, because they all supported the same damn things during the Bush years.

And there is no "far right" in the Republican party in anything except rhetoric. Anyone who says otherwise has no idea what the far right really is. Radicalism doesn't exist in American politics, in any real way. People who accuse the GOP of being far right are every bit as ignorant as people who say Obama's government is socialist.

How dare you....don't you know you are not supposed to make any sense when talking politics.

I wish more people could see things the way they are instead of blindly following a political party just cause it's their party. I strongly feel the problem is us not them. We elect them and we let them get away with all their crap.

Wow, this thread (not surprisingly) shows how so many people are blinded to what their "side" is doing as long as they beat the other side.

I hate to say it, but Obama is a horrible president, pretty much on par with the guy who came before him, and the previous two also. But I know 2 of those guys were alright, which ones depend on which side you chose to believe.

Now I am not some conspiracy nut, I don't think they are ran by some corporation from some dark room. But I do feel that WE are the problem. How many people here know who there representatives are, local, state, and national? I am sure some do, but face it, most people voting would have voted for Hitler if he had the right letter next to his name. Very few people check up on their elected officials to make sure they are keeping their word.

Obama might have been better than Romney, but you will never convince me that there is not someone out there WAY better, white, black, purple, male, female, gay, straight......I don't care. Just someone I feel I can actually trust.

My dad is so pro Obama it makes me sick, I always find my self being the devils advocate around him trying to make him see the problems with that guy. Then the guy I work with is a right-wing nutcase (I say that with love as that's what he calls himself.) I find myself doing the exact opposite with him, Trying to tell him what was really being said not just the 15 second sound bite he heard on FOX news.

I have heard of people putting their dead HDD in the freezer for a few hours and being able to get a few minutes to hours to get their information off. I have never had to try this myself so have no first hand knowledge of it. If it does work it will not work for long, so get your data off as quick as possible.

I use AIDA64. You can have the temps reported in the taskbar, sidebar, or on the LCD screen on a keyboard if you have one.

I use it with my G19 and like being able to monitor everything I want in game.

[QUOTE="ch5richards"]

[QUOTE="kraken2109"] I can find out the specific programs if it would help, but he was running them on an Intel Core 2 duo rig with 2 GB RAM, that handled everything fine. He swapped out the dual core for a quad core when I had en extra one laying around. It still works just fine, but he wants his weather PC to do nothing but run his weather stuff. Looks like a possibility, I will run it by him, thanks.

So what you're looking for is a basic PC powerful enough to run those programs. I guess you want low noise and low power consumption then. Does size matter?

I don't think size is too much of any issue. But low power consumption would definitely be a plus.

It's hard to say since we have no idea what the software is like, what is he running it on at the moment and how does it run?

My dad wants to build him another PC to use solely for his weather station stuff. It does not need to be top of the line, but he would like good performance for a decent amount of time down the road.

There will be no gaming, to my knowledge there are a few semi demanding forecast programs that will run a few times a day, but he may want to add something more demanding later and would like it to be as prepared as possible.

He is interested in SSD, but thinks it might be more than it is worth...

There is no real budget, but the cheaper the better. I was looking at some AMD CPU's but not sure if quad or six core would be better. Also I have no clue on what are good motherboards for what he wants.

Open to any and all suggestions, I have just been wasting too much time on newegg building countless builds and just can't narrow anything down.

**EDIT**

He will need a case and Windows and all that good stuff, but I can add that myself, but feel free to give suggestions if you wish. Thanks.

I have two sticks 4GB running at 1600MHZ. I take it that's what being displayed, correct?

Hexagon_777
The speed is correct. But that shows you are in single channel mode instead of dual. If that is two sticks, then one stick needs to be put in a different slot. Check your manual to see which dimms need to be populated for dual channel mode.

Push the "back to BIOS button" on the back panel of the motherboard, or you can do it the old fashion way with the jumper. Information on page 19 and 55 of your manual.
