“Time to read a book”? How about I just play a single player game that doesn’t require always online connectivity? This is why always online is a horrendous idea.
While I’ll probably be deeply involved in Red Dead, I’ll gladly take some free Yakuza for my backlog. It’s been a long time since I’ve played Yakuza, but I’ve been having the urge to go back and try it out again.
@Eagleheart1980: Ah! Damn phone! I must have been hacked by EA because that was most definitely supposed to say “would probably be excited”. I feel so violated :(. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
@lonewolf1044: I completely agree, always online is not what’s best for the consumer. I’m from a small town, if I’m at my parents (whom don’t have Internet) I’m screwed if I want to play this. There are still people out there that either have terrible internet, or none at all; so the “all inclusive” gaming industry just basically says piss on you for living in that area.
Another real issue arises in when I travel for my job, I land in places that DO NOT tolerate gaming systems being connected to their internet. This is a time when games really help pass the time since I’m away from home, and my options just continue to get limited with all these only online titles.
